ROSQUILLOS FESTIVAL OF LILOAN 2025

HI! ANNYEONG! KONNICHIWA HIVERS! It’s @angelwingss again, and today I’m going to share with you the Rosquillos Festival of Liloan.

So yesterday, was the Rosquillos Festival of Liloan. The street dance started around 2-3pm. I was planning to watch the street dance but it was to hot that time so I decided to watch later at 6pm. I took a bath around 3pm. It took me a while in the bathroom cuz I was execissively removing the dirt in my body cuz I know it well be to crowded in there and I don’t want to smell bad while sweating.

I finished taking a bath around 4pm. It was around 5:30 when I finished my make up and stuff. It really took me a while to get ready cuz I wanna look presentable. I rode a motorcycle since it was traffic that time due to people who want to watch too. I was kind of hesitant to watch the rosquillos dance too cuz I don’t have any company, but then I realize that I need to be independent in life sometimes. When I arrived at the location where the dance will be held, I started looking for my cousin who is part of the rosquillos too. When I saw him, I greeted him and told him that I’m gonna watch there performance and support him; even though he’s just a props man.

While waiting for the event to start, I told my cousin that I will be strolling around and find a good spot to watch the dance properly. While strolling, there was a lot of food stalls and it made me hungry even though I already ate in our house. It took me a while to find a really good spot cuz there were a lot of people in there. When I found a good spot, it was for standings only cuz the seats are full already. But even though I need to stand, it was still fine for me cuz I was really at the front and I can clearly see the whole stage.

The event started exactly at 6:30 pm. They first introduced the festival queens of each barangay and then the last reigned festival queens. After introducing the queens, someone sang a song and the the opening ceremony including the opening prayer, lupang hinirang, and sugbu hym. After the opening, the mayor made a speeach and his subordinates. After their speeches, the mc introduced next the host for the event and the judges for the rosquillos festival.

The first contingent was the barangay Cotcot, there props was really nice. The have a butterfly lights costume and a very nice kitchen props. They focused on how the rosquillos is made. The next contingent was barangay Calero. Their headdress has lights and they also have a colorful props. What I noticed in there props is that its more flowery and they focused on yellow and red costumes for there dancers. What I also like is that they have impersonated some known singers in Liloan and their music was very lively too. The third contingent was barangay San Vicente. Their costumes was also focused on blue. They have a jeep props and there rosquillos was huge too. I personally like their costumes cuz the color change from blue to pink and then too lights. Their rosquillos have lights too. Which I think highlighted their performance.

The fourth contingent was barangay Yati. There costume where yellow too but it has a lot of glitters, which was also nice. Their rosquillos props also have lights. The fifth contingent was barangay Catarman, where my cousin is part of. Their costumes was very amazing! with no biases, I personally like there costumes too. At first it was pure white and then it change to colorful ruffles and then after they twirl, there dress has lights already. Overall, their props is my favorites too. It was huge and the colors was lit and I was just very speechless of there performance cuz I didn’t expect it would be that amazing. The sixth contingent is barangay Jubay. Their costumes has a hint of green. The dancers has a red and yellow color coding of costumes too. Their props was colorful and I also like there performance too because the way they stomps on the stage was nice and we can really hear the movement of their feet.

The seventh contingent was barangay Poblacion. Their props was amazing too. Their costumes was different from other cuz the color coding are green and brown with a stripes pattern, which I also like. I can also tell that they really have a budget for there props. And just like the fifth contingent, they are also change in a colorful outfit mid way. And I must say that they might be the winner because of there performance which also left me speechless. The eight contingent is barangay Tayud. Their props was focused on the ingredients of the rosquillos. There performance also focused on a señorito who want to make a product with the help of his maids. I also like their costumes cuz the ruffles was emphasized. The nineth contingent was composed of three barangays. I noticed that there props has dancing people, which was different too. I also love there performance because it was very lively too and the dancers were all wearing a mask and their mask have lights too.

After all the ritual performances, the board members of fifth district gave a speech. After the speech, all the contingents dance to the unity song which was “Mabuhi ka Sugboanon” and the new song of Liloan. The dance was very lively and all the contingents look so colorful and amazing to watch.
