It's been rainig all week here in rural Portugal. I was expecting to have a clear sky window today but the weather forcast was correct for once and I didn't have a chance to keep harvesting my olive trees.
There was not too much I could do so I decided to drive to Spain and get some groceries.
I usually take a secondary road to cross the border as it is a shorter path. It involves crossing a small river which is the boundary between both countries, it is between Salvaterra do Extremo, in Portugal and Zarza la Mayor in Spain. I love the old stone sign announcing 5km to the small portuguese village.

This is the aspect of the river in the summer.

I was expecting the small river pass to be closed due to the water level increase after all this week rain and as I was approaching it on rhe road, a temporary no trespassing sign appeared. I decided to just keep driving to see the water level compared to the summer image I had in my head, this is what I found.

It was pretty amazing so see so much water flowing over the road. I am sure the car would have been pushed down the river by rhe flow if I would have tried to cross.
It was raining during all the time I was on the road, but at the end of the day, the sun appeared opening the clouds giving ne the present of almost a vertical rainbow which was hard to catch on the cell phone camera.
.

Just before sunset. I decided to stop rhe car in the middle of the rural road with no trafic and take this beautifull shot

Let's see if the rainy forecast for tomorrow is not a reality and I can go back to harvesting work
