Worth the Risk

in Hive Learners2 days ago

The journey of life is one that encapsulates a lot of risks. Someone said living itself is risky. Though this might be argued or disputed. Come to think of it, every day we live and move about our daily activities has some risks involved. Like the vehicles we take or drive to work (almost) every day, or to other, meetings, appointments and so on, isn't there a risk there? We expect and caution the drivers/riders to be careful, but just like risky ventures, carefulness might not suffice.

Risks are an integral part of human success. This is not me trying to sound motivational or something like that. I've come to realise and understand that some success we desire to achieve or heights we wish to attain cannot be possible without taking that risky leap of faith. Risk can mean stepping out into a yet unknown but expected destination, with a sufficient level of knowledge, which does not automatically guarantee the expected result. Risk then leaves one with a 50/50 percent chance of success or failure.

However, the fact that taking risks is necessary for a certain level of success shouldn't take away the place of well-calculated and analysed chances before embarking on that risky venture. That's why even as humans, we're careful with the normal dealings of life. You won't take a faulty vehicle, nor climb a faulty ladder nor willfully use what is faulty and is clearly an impending disaster. This highlights the place of proper and necessary considerations before taking risks, not blindly because it's necessary.

I had to count the cost of what I can say was the biggest risk I took in 2025. So, in late 2024, I took a risk, with a level of boldness and assurance. This was tied to some necessity making the risk-taking a necessary attempt. I took a loan with what was my salary/allowance-yeah, I know you might be thinking, why? Loans have been an issue that many; me, run away from. However, I had to take this one given that I had envisioned the prospect of the risky venture. It was to be deducted from my payment.

For me, it was a necessary option at that time. I needed to get gadgets to facilitate my digital skills, which I learnt but I was no longer using for lack of these devices. It was a risk, and yet an opportunity. How did it turn out for me? At some point, it almost shook me, seeing that my monthly payment was now not something to write home about. The good thing, however, was that, what I used the gadget to engage in gave me monetary value that was sustainable. After some months, it was cleared and I was back to my normal pay, with additional income from my skill. Fair enough, I came on Hive that period.

Well, I can say it went well for me. Would I take such a risk again if it presents itself? As mentioned, I don't like the idea of loans. It would be a tough and long consideration, with a really viable, prospective and positive outcome to make me take such a route again. Life has risks involved, and some heights/achievements will require looking risk in the face and taking it on. But only if the expected result is worth the intended risk.

Wow, this is beautiful 😍...
In short, while taking whatever risk, we should be very cautious and calculative so we won't end up taking bad, rash or reckless decisions.

So good to see that the risk you took did pay off...

Thanks for sharing.
