Understanding Loneliness

I was re-thinking a bit about my ways. I always accepted myself as an introvert who prefers most of the time. If I didn't have a family, I would stick with a computer and probably would spend more time on Hive, for example. At every social event, I feel some discomfort after a while and get isolated after some time. No, because of others' problems, I just decided to get secluded. I was reading a bit about loneliness and how it actually affects not only our health, including the introverts and made me rethink a bit.

One interesting fact is that for some animals, it is part of their biology to spend most of their time as lonely living beings. Interesting that in the Felinidae family (cats), we can see the two examples. We have animals that only live in social groups, such as Lions, and the opposite like Tigers, that spend most of their lives by themselves. And if you put tigers in a group, the stress will change their behaviour. But what about humans?

Like all the Apes, we are social animals, and it is part of our biology to live in groups and create social bonds. And loneliness can affect our brains. It was found already that loneliness in the elderly is more associated with brain stroke linked to brain inflammation; there is an article talking about that. So that triggered an alert for me, maybe I should for some interactions? Am I doing something totally wrong?

Maybe yes and no. I read that extroverts for sure feel more stress in loneliness, and they get more affected by it. So that means that we introverts are safe? Not quite. Our brain is bad at self-diagnosing problems. We can get depression, but without a diagnosis, loneliness can be the reason. So we are equally vulnerable to all the problems that loneliness brings; we just don't understand it. But still how can I manage that if I can't stay for a long time at a social event? That is a totally normal feeling. While extroverts can spend longer times and more frequent exposure to social interactions, introverts have some limitations in that. Still, it doesn't mean that we can stay without any social interaction.

So the answer for a healthier life to avoid problems related to loneliness isn't so simple for introverts, but yes, they can still have fun in social interactions. On Sunday, I met a friend that have children the same age as mine. It was fun, we chatted a bit, exchanged interactions, laughed, and forgot about problems. It was for about 2h. That was enough. I should continue my social interactions and events even when I feel a bit lazy to go. Just in moderation and respecting when I get too stressed. I hope that motivates also other people who feel like me a bit awkward sometimes with other people.

I think we should be 50/50 but nowadays people find comforts in their laptops and mobile which might have some long term effects as you said that apes were socially animals.....
