This morning's oil study oil on linen 30"x36" A fence and gate in backlighting. I stopped when I ran out of steam after about 1 1/2 hours of working with the color masses. I do this every day, never trying to finish. Instead, I practice getting started with the idea that "a good start is a good painting."
This one got wiped* (most of are for now) as it didn't come up to my standards of being a "keeper." That's ok because learning and improving is far, far more important than coming up with something I can sign and frame. That's the least of my concerns! This attitude frees me to explore and experiment.
*I photograph each one for later review.
