Review: Hive Chess Tournament S21

“Chess, like love and music, has the power to make men happy.”— Siegbert Tarrasch.

It’s been a while since I wrote a post in this community. When the Hive tournament for this season started, I vowed to participate in all games and share my review after every game. Soon enough, I would come to realize that I would shatter that vow I once made with all seriousness. Over the past 3 weeks, I haven’t been able to participate in the Hive Chess tournament. There are so many reasons keeping my hands tied. First off, the network here is very poor. Even if I decided to play, I would lose all the games without even making a move. More importantly, I don’t even have time for myself not to talk about chess.

I have missed the last 3 tournaments, and although I feel sad about it, I’m glad the team is doing well and that other players are turning up to participate in the tournament. I reviewed some of the games today and found some interesting games which I would like to share.

Odic30 VS Mixzy Ragnal

A 1700+ rated player finished 3rd in the midst of giants! Immediately I clicked on the leaderboard, Odic30 piqued my interest. In the midst of 2000+ rated players, they finished 3rd, meaning they won more games than other higher-rated players.
I enjoyed analyzing this particular game because I really liked the checkmate. It was beautiful!! Both players started off well, but along the line, Odic30 pulled off an unexpected brilliant move.

Lighteye VS Migmag

I enjoy watching Lighteye’s game. He plays carefully. Although sometimes I think he spends too much time deciding what move to make. This particular game proves how good he is.

Migmag made so many blunders which cost him his rook and even almost his queen. Both players made blunders, but Lighteye played better.
