I Got Back to Hive and my Fav Game 'Chess': Saturday HiveChess S1R10 Arena

in The Chess Communitylast month (edited)

Wow, we are in round 10 of the Saturday HiveChess Tournament already?? Tbh, I felt bad for not being able to participate in the past 3 rounds. I have been away from Hive and also Chess because of my exams and also sickness but I am good now. Oh, and great news, I AM A GRADUATE engineer now. I will write a post about that later, let's focus on chess now.

So, we had another interesting round of Chess yesterday!
I was fortunate to be in the leaderboard even if my points were quite low compared to the bigger boys. It still felt really goodd. I was able to amass a total of 14 points and secured 7th place.

Here's how the final leaderboard looked:

  1. 🥇 Odnoobraz_bcm– 52 points (absolute beast mode!)@maestroask

  2. 🥈jaki01– 37 points @jaki01

  3. 🥉 Tangible_ay – 25 points @tangibleay

📊

As usual, let's highlight some of the games that are quite interesting and we could learn from 👇🏼

Yesterday's Game Highlights and Analysis

JUSTOLA VS TANGIBLE_AY

I and Tangible_ay have played a total of 3 games together, and this is the first time I've won by checkmate. It was truly an amazing game. Let's look through it. Black berserked White and started off playing quite well, but at some point his position began to weaken, which is expected, since Black berserked while playing the Chess960 variant, a format that takes you out of your usual playbook. White missed a lot of checkmate sequences but was able to force a resign from black.

JUSTOLA VS JUSTFAVOUR

Lowkey, this game pained me small o. I started off right with my pieces well positioned and defended until a blunder was made. I moved my queen to h4 which was quite a terrible decision. White @justfavour responded by moving his rook to h3 which flipped the table and got the advantage. Black tried to maneuver so the game would end by timer but white was able to deliver an outstanding checkmate ♟ before that could happen. @justfavour, good game bro.

SOUTHGAMER VS JAKI

LOL, you all need to look at this game. When I watched this game, I kept on shouting 'ahan'. They both mimicked each other moves at the beginning and I just found that quite interesting. Both players, @jaki01 and @southgamer had good position but white made a few blunders that compromised his defense. The game favored black when he took whites queen at e3. White resigned and the game came to an end.

Nice! My elder son also likes to play chess and join the competitions but I think he needs more practice to win more.

Oh wow, thats cool
He doesn't have to be best yet to enter tournaments. He can join the blockchain team and grow with us through competitions.

Check out @stayoutoftherz post to read information for him to partake in tournaments. 🤗
