Hey chess players and lovers of the game of chess,
This round of the Saturday Hivechess Tournament was a pretty tough one, I must say. Players came in strong with the intention of making a mark in the event. All of a sudden, nobody is a weak player anymore. I tried berserking some of my games, but I was met with good knockouts. There was a presence of so many pretty strong players in today's tournament. A couple of 2300, 2200, 2100, 2000, and the 2400-rated player who got to 2500 in the event. Shoutout the the respective winners, you all are truly strong players.
Would you believe that in this position with a checkmate in 10 moves, I still lost the game? My brain froze at this point, and I did not know what to do next. I tried to look for the winning move, but the harder I look, the more my time flies right before my eyes. Computer recommends that the checkmate starts first with Kg7, short lining the king. Then I maneuver my knights into the position to get a checkmate on the king since it is struck on that flank. I tried, but I could not find it, until I ran into a bad position and lost on time.

This is another painful game for me. I got to promote first to a queen, but I could not win fast enough because of the low time I had. I had only 5 seconds on my clock as my opponent still had 1 minute on their clock. It is more than enough for them to hold the position against any attack I might pull with my queen. I tried, but after a couple of moves, and my opponent running away from checks, I lost the game of time.

This was the only game that had me excited at the end of the tournament. Although at this point the position is kind of drawish and I had a couple of bad moves me I was losing for me. The exciting part is how I was able to hold off the position after going down a pawn right in the middlegame, and I did well to manage my time against the 2300-rated player. At the end of the game, I won on time. An interesting way to win a game when in a bad position.

It was a tough field. The top three were beasts on another level. I lost a lot in this tournament and only getting paired with lower level players in the later rounds improved my ranking. The early rounds were brutal, lol. I must have went into shock and blundered a piece against a lower level opponent.
It is funny I am not the only that went through all this.
