The Lichess Liga Team Battle is back - Start is this Sunday!

The prizes from Season 20 were in the meantime sent to the players.
In total the record-sum of 1450 (rounded up by me) Hive have accumulated in the @badge-646464 account and were distributed among the 22 qualified participants.

While we have a break from the classical Friday´s Hivechess seasons (we had 20 of them so far - what a number!), there is nothing which could stop us from playing chess on Hive!

The Lichess Liga Team Battle is back! We had it already in 2023, here you can read more about it.

Just as a quick reminder, in this tournament format it is not about playing against each other (in fact we Hivians won´t be even paired against each other!). In the Lichess Liga Team Battle it is all about our Blockchain chess team against other teams!
It starts this Sunday 1^st June, 18h GMT, so one hour earlier than usually.

Can we as a global chess team - built mostly by a common interest in Hive - compete against other teams who mostly come from traditional chess clubs?

Those tournemants are organized by Lichess moderator FM jeffforever and are conducted 2 times per week (every Thursday and Sunday), with varying time formats. It is ongoing since 2020(!), with app. 500 teams and >4000 players participating each time and dozens of leages in parallel! The highest possible liga is the "Lichess Bundesliga". There are often IMs and FMs as team leaders, so expect some strong opponents. But don´t be afraid, on the higher board numbers there are less experienced players, so in fact the teams are often as heterogeneous as our is.

There is no registration for you needed. We start this Sunday in liga 5A - which is huge. Last time we had started in liga 12 and fought our way up until liga 6. This time there was a free slot in liga 5, so it will be a tough start for us. I urge some strong players to join, if possible! But not only the strong ones! The more from our team participate, the higher our chances will be to get a good result and improve in the rankings. E.g. if we end up in the top 3, we will be in liga 4 next time! If we make it to rank 8 only, we will be downgraded to liga 6, as can be seen on the left side of the tournament page:

The rules:

• Everybody in our Lichess team can join using the link to the tournament (pick the blockchain chess team if asked 😃, in case you are part of multiple teams) and if you are not in our team yet, you can join anytime!
• Every Thursday and Sunday are tournaments that last 1h40min
• The results of the 8 best contributors of each team (i.e. the "scorers") are counted in this liga (but all skill levels are important, because each win means potentially less points for the other teams!)
• Bonus: Every participant in the Team Liga (min. 5 games played) will get a one-time bonus of 3 points in the upcoming Hivechess season 21, all scorers 5 and topscorers will get even 10 points!
• Payout: Each week all scorers will get 1 or 2 Hive (depending if you played once or twice that week) directly sent in their wallet!

Mode: 3+0 (3 minutes per game, no increment), 140 min. rated arena, win streaks & berserk allowed
