Earlier, I mentioned that I was a fan of Yu-Gi-Oh! especially the first generation, the one we all know and remember.

This time I would like to talk about the movie that gave closure to this story. That gives an end to the adventure of Yūgi Mutō and Atem.
En esta oportunidad quisiera hablar de la película que le dio un cierre a esta historia. Que le da un final a la aventura de Yūgi Mutō y Atem.
Yu-Gi-Oh! The Dark Side of Dimensions was released on April 23, 2016 in Japan.

In this one we are set 6 months after the end of the series. After Atem has returned to the dimension where he belongs. Now the main characters are preparing for what their lives will be like after high school.
En esta nos situamos 6 meses después del final de la serie. Luego de que Atem haya regresado a la dimensión donde pertenece. Ahora los protagonistas se preparan para lo que serán sus vidas al terminar la secundaria.
The first thing that really caught my attention is the animation, which improved considerably compared to the end of the series. Which shouldn't be a surprise, since there is more than a decade of difference between the series and the movie.
Lo primero que me llamó mucho la atención es la animación, que mejoró considerablemente con respecto al final de la serie. Cosa que no debería ser sorpresa, ya que hay más de una década de diferencia entre la serie y la película.
One thing I loved was Seto Kaiba, who was more Seto Kaiba than ever. Seeing him super determined and determined to get back at Atem and challenge him to a duel was incredible. Seeing him deploy all his intellect, technology and heritage just to get a rematch with his eternal rival is wonderful. Without a doubt, he was my favorite character in the movie.
Algo que me encantó fue Seto Kaiba, que fue más Seto Kaiba que nunca. Verlo superdeterminado y decidido a regresar a Atem y retarlo a un duelo, fue increíble. Verlo desplegar todo su intelecto, tecnología y patrimonio solo por conseguir una revancha con su eterno rival es maravilloso. Sin dudas, fue mi personaje favorito de la película.
On the other hand, I liked to see Yugi's evolution. Going from being the shy and quiet boy he was in the series to now having character and courage. To the point that at one point he confronts Kaiba with attitude and bravery. It seems that having spent so many years with the pharaoh made his personality pay off a bit.
Por otro lado, me gustó ver la evolución de Yugi. Pasando de ser el chico tímido y tranquilo que era en la serie a ahora tener carácter y valentía. Al punto que en un momento se enfrenta a Kaiba con actitud y valentía. Parece que haber pasado tantos años con el faraón hizo que se le pagara un poco su personalidad.
What I didn't like so much was the villain. Diva as an antagonist isn't a disaster, but I felt him somewhat lazy and repetitive. Basically, he's another one out for revenge for something Atem did or caused. In the end, he doesn't feel much different than Marik was at the time.
Lo que no me gustó tanto fue el villano. Diva como antagonista no es un desastre, pero lo siento algo flojo y repetitivo. Básicamente, es otro que busca venganza por algo que hizo o provocó Atem. Al final, no se siente muy diferente a lo que fue en su momento Marik.
The ending left me with a bittersweet taste. On the one hand, it is epic and leaves you very emotional. To the point of making your skin crawl. But on the other hand, if you think about it a bit, it doesn't make much sense what happened. On the internet the “Yugi crazy traps” meme is very famous and here it feels like it applies. In short, it saves the day without following some rule or logic within the series. It also doesn't explain afterwards what happened. They leave it all up to interpretation. This for me takes away a couple of points.
El Final me dejó con un gusto agridulce. Por un parte, es épico y te deja muy emocionado. Al punto de erizarte la piel. Pero por la otra, si lo piensas un poco, no tiene mucha lógica lo que pasó. En Internet es muy famoso el meme de “Yugi trampas locas” y aquí se siente que aplica. En resumen, salva el día sin seguir alguna regla o lógica dentro de la serie. Tampoco se explica después que es lo que pasó. Lo dejan todo a la interpretación. Esto para mi le quita un par de puntos.
In conclusion, this is a good movie and a worthy closure to the story of Yu-Gi-Oh! Personally, I am satisfied even though I feel there were things that could have been better. If I had to rate Yu-Gi-Oh! The Dark Side of Dimensions I would give it a 7.5/10. I think everyone who grew up with Yu-Gi-Oh! should see this movie. They won't be disappointed.
En conclusión, esta es una buena película y un digno cierre de la historia de Yu-Gi-Oh! En lo personal, estoy satisfecho a pesar de que siento que hubo cosas que pudieron ser mejor. Si tuviera que calificar a Yu-Gi-Oh! El lado oscuro de las dimensiones le daría un 7,5/10. Creo que todo el mundo que creció con Yu-Gi-Oh! debería ver esta película. No se decepcionarán.

I'm a fan of YU-GI-OH! I've seen a few new adaptations, I think I paused on the last one. I didn't know about this movie.
It looks well animated, for some reason I think I might see it. It catches my attention, one way or another.
If you are a fan of Yu-Gi-Oh! you should definitely watch this movie. I assure you that you will have a great nostalgia trip and you will thank me for recommending it to you.

Totally agree, that movie was a necessary closure to Yugi and Atem's story. and yes, Kaiba steals the movie! 😂 It's just seeing him obsessed with having his revenge on Atem, using all his technology.... I agree with you about the villain, Diva kind of doesn't end up convincing, feels a bit like other villains in the series. And the ending... yes, it's epic, it gives you goosebumps to see Atem show up, but it's true that if you think about it, it's a bit out of the bag, the “Yugi crazy traps” thing fits him perfectly, hahaha. Good review!
For me, Kaiba was the MVP of this movie without a doubt. Especially for that final scene where he manages to travel to Atem's dimension and be able to have him in front of him. Where he can get the duel he wanted so much.
In conclusion, the movie is good without more, but it is a worthy closure to this generation.
