Hello artists, I hope you're all enjoying the week! It's been a bit boring over here, and I haven't been drawing for some days (lazy me, 😂).
I started this piece yesterday but got bored and set it aside, only to finish it this evening. I remember I used to love doing this kind of drawing in the past, maybe to make time pass faster in boring classes or during free periods.
(just like this one from last year)
I still love this style, but it really requires me to be focused, with no distractions around, just like now. I'm usually busy with other things and don't always have the time.
Process
I initially thought of using the style from my previous "peacock design" (or I guess that's what I named it!). I started with a single eye-like structure, or whatever this looks like.
Then, I moved on to drawing a human figure – though honestly, I don't know what to call it, but it started as a mother figure. I used my continuous curves to create different patterns and shapes to complete both the mother and her son. I initially thought of giving both of them hair in the "peacock style," but at some point, I decided to keep that only for the mother.
I considered leaving the background as a blank, designed space, but I thought it wouldn't make sense given the empty area on the left side of the paper. So, I decided to add an alien building. Making it what it is was a real drag. I wanted to maintain the same pattern, but it was getting boring and long. I felt like crushing it, as I always do when I feel that way, but my brother told me it still looked nice. He was watching a movie, so I joined him while drawing; even though I didn't maintain perfect shape, I didn't care anymore – I just wanted to see the end.
This image is where I stopped yesterday 👆👆. I was tired, and my dad was back from work, so I had to help him with some things. I completed the "floors" and the sky today (I wasn't even planning on adding more buildings). I just wanted to get it done. I was in a rush and didn't even calm down to see what more I could add, except those weird shapes and curves.
Well, that's all for this "not-so-lazy-after-all" drawing session! Hopefully, the next one won't require quite as much last-minute pushing. Wishing you all a less boring and more creative week ahead!
Wow, I find this amazing! you could gather your similar sketches and make a book about them :)
Thanks for the wonderful idea, @katerinaramm! It's something I've actually thought about before, but figuring out the where, how, and what it's going to be like for a book like that is really racking my brain! 😱
You can start simply, making a pdf out of your drawings and upload them in a free platform like gumroad (but there are more if you search online)
This is my page in gumroad, and i give my books for free
https://katerinaramm.gumroad.com/
I am sure you will make it, you just need a plan and sometime to work on it!
I'll dive into Gumroad and your page. This is really great. I just hope it's as easy as it sounds
This is beautiful ❤️
