Every time I read Japanese legends about often not very kind entities, I always reach out to draw them as damn cute and touching, completely different from how they were passed down from generation to generation by people. For example, Kappa is never a playful spirit who drags inexperienced bathers into the water, but a friendly simpleton who enjoys his water element! 😅
