One day he greeted me by taking me hushingly by the hand and pulling me outside, where we both stood to breathe deeply with a multitude of crows. Years later, hosts of all sizes bring him back to life, back home, back to the living, back to me.

This is my response to this post from @hive-161465, The Blockchain Poets Community. A haibun was requested, and a haibun it is. It's been so long since I wrote one of these, or even a haiku! Thank you @moeknows for making the request, and to those of you who have read it.

Beautiful!
Thanks! I'm happy with it.
What an interesting literary device. I hadn't heard of a haibun before. You've created a wonderful winter scene full of longing, beauty, and bittersweetness.
I love writing haibun, there's a lot you can do with them. Thanks for stopping by!
That’s wonderful!
Oh my I thought of you when I posted this! Where have you been?! I miss your poems.
I just fell out of a posting routine. It happens easily enough. I’m still writing short poems, though. One of these days I’ll get around to sharing them here.
Happy Holidays to you.
I have never heard of a haibun! Now I get to go see what it is. I have read many a haiku, so that I am familiar with.
I enjoyed reading what you wrote.
Thanks. I love the form. It's much more difficult than one would think. A little story to preface a micro poem. Can be very powerful!
What a moving union between memory and nature. The crows and geese act as bridges, bringing back to the present that hand that once guided in silence. You manage to make the cold winter sun radiate hope, transforming absence into a constant return across the sky. A cycle of life and memory beautifully captured in your words.
