Dancer's Feet
Gliding past crowds of the unfamiliar,
Women only wish and Men secretly stare.
An apparition floating as seas part ahead,
The earth would move just to keep you there.
A life imagined with you a lift,
Far too long and all too swift,
Eyes trailing and hearts adrift,
And now in life a gaping rift.
So smooth the step and light the touch,
The floor doesn't know you pass above.
A barely perceptible brush of hand,
And another withers and falls in love.
As lightning caught under lid,
Chance is slight for those who bid,
For luck has no pull on this grid,
Nor no brakes to stop the skid.
With a twinkle of laughter in the eye,
Prayers of the many are silently heard.
And with a soft smile all are denied,
By the strongest of the littlest bird.

Aw... I don't remember your ever writing a poem that wasn't on the bleak side of things. This is downright cute, as if a fairy had written it, had worked her magic at that precise moment when luck had no power. Makes me wanna fall in love.

Good question! At my age, nearly all men are fat and grumpy. Could be why. I still see myself as a twenty something minx, so fat and grumpy doesn't cut it. Then there's the fact that the few single men my age seem to be looking for wives, which I do not think I could do again; I've gotten very set in my household ways. Does love have to mean marriage?

Very nice poem! I was trying to read it analytically the second time through, but I couldn't remember enough from my university classes on meter and literature to actually get anywhere!

We believe if we were together the one we felt in love, they would elevate our life standarts, but it does not often happen so :)
Expectations seem to trigger the death of relationships.
The end rhymes make the poem intriguing to read. I like the way the words flow feel like a dance. It shows how one person’s quiet presence can move hearts deeply.
Even when the person is unknown. It might not be love at first sight, but there is something.

This is an amazing poem. Beautifully written. I especially admire this line:
"So smooth the steps and light the touch." Showing how effortless the movement of each step when dancing.

True love is something incomprehensible. As if in heaven someone decided to bring two people together. I had a lot of experience with women and only one I wanted to be with for a long time.
This reminded me of someone I used to see every morning on the train, never spoke a word, but somehow their presence changed everything. It's a strange thing the way people can linger in my mind like that.
