Good evening dear friends, and welcome back to my Blog.
By now you've realized that I've fallen in love with Puglia, and especially with Salento, the southernmost part of the region. During one of my trips, I decided to stop in Nardò for lunch. This short trip proved very informative, as I discovered a true gem of the Mediterranean.
We're talking about one of the most fascinating and historically rich cities in Salento, in the province of Lecce. Nardò is located inland and is the second most populous.

If I had to describe Nardò in one word, it would be "Baroque." Indeed, this small town boasts a priceless artistic and architectural heritage. You can find examples of Baroque simply by strolling through the main streets, among artisan shops and delicious restaurants.
My tour began in Piazza Antonio Salandra, which has an original layout and is surrounded by numerous Baroque buildings, such as Palazzo dell'Acquaviva and the Immacolata.

Undoubtedly the most famous attraction is the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta, so large I couldn't photograph it in its entirety! This church has Romanesque and Byzantine origins and has been embellished with priceless frescoes over the centuries.
Although Nardò is located inland, it's not far from the sea. In fact, the Ionian Sea is about 20 minutes away, and many tourists choose it for its strategic location. I haven't had the chance to visit the seaside area, called Marina di Nardò, but I've been told it's enchanting, with pristine bays and a protected regional natural park.

I hope you enjoyed your visit to Nardò! Thanks for reading.
See you next time,
Delilha

Nardò sounds absolutely enchanting, and your description really brings out its charm. The combination of rich history, Baroque architecture, and that closeness to the Ionian Sea makes the town feel like a living museum with a coastal heartbeat.
I also had the same feeling. I'm really happy that you appreciated my story 😊
