🥇 Contrasting Worlds | Back in Time at Old Dubai by @arrliinn

During my sister’s recent vacation here in the UAE, we stayed in Dubai in her first two days (or was it three?! Gosh, has it really been almost two months?!). We witnessed the towering sky scrapers and then on the second day, we decided to take a detour. We went into Al Seef (as per our AI-driven itinerary), a place often described as “old Dubai,” and it felt like stepping through a portal into a different era.

From the very efficient and modern train system, this time, we tried the abra, Dubai's traditional ferry boat, to get from the Gold Souk to the other side of the Dubai Creek. It was a fun experience that cost us AED 1 ($0.27) each.

🥈 The Alameda de Paula Promenade in Havana's historic center [Eng/Esp] by @mayramalu

Walking here is like traveling back in time to centuries past. The Alameda de Paula was built in 1777 for the recreation and leisure of the wealthy social class, and was the first tree-lined promenade in Cuba.

Its name "Alameda" comes from the large number of poplar trees planted there to create a green space that would help purify the air. Its location extends from the San Francisco de Paula Church, giving it its name.

🥉 First Light Beach House by @lizelle

The gorgeous eight-bedroom beach house sits above fascinating sub-volcanic rock formations called Dolerite breccia, with fabulous rock pools for swimming and exploring, and great fishing spots. I took many photos of the rock formations last year and shared them with you. I took a tumble a few weeks ago that curtailed my exploring, much to my disdain! But, I was happy to be there and see the action from the large balcony and enjoy the sound of the waves crashing on the rocks, and catch up with everyone.
