A Fool Again For A Change "Twice A Fool" - Movie Review

I'm in that era again, watching Nollywood movies and getting hooked by the littlest of things in their storylines. Two days ago, while I was having my hair done by my mum, I decided to see a Nollywood movie that was recommended to me. Mum is not a fan of movies at all but if she will agree to see one and understand it, it's in English.

I didn't ask her to see the movie with me but there was no way she wouldn't get engrossed in it as I had the sound loud enough and held my phone high enough for her to see it, you could say I made sure she saw the movie lol. While into the movie, mum shared words of wisdom regarding the characters as the storyline is a relatable one.

"Twice A Fool" is a Nollywood movie released this year, 2025 starring Timini Egbuson and "Audrey Harrison". The movie has a very small cast but enough to pass the story to viewers and keep them hooked. It's a story about family, love and finding oneself, with good touches of friendship and seeking advice from right sources.

The story tells of a baby mama who thinks it isn't enough to remain a baby mama and with the advice of her friends and family, she begins to make moves that will get her child's father to see reasons to take her as wife. It's also about a celebrity who enjoys spending time with his child who lives with his baby mama but gets a shocker.

Juliana is a career woman who didn't take much consideration on her looks and portrays the reserved and loving mother to her daughter. She had once made a mistake of getting pregnant at a young age for a 22 year old guy who wasn't ready to take responsibility. 10 years later, and after an encounter, she wants marriage from him.

With advices from her friends and family, she learns to be a better person for herself while giving her child's father reasons to propose marriage to her. Even though the plan seemed to work out, she ends up making the mistake again and regrets came until her child's father comes to his senses and give her her dream happy ending.

Akin is a celebrity who is contented with having a reserved and loving baby mama, spending time with his daughter with no plans of marriage with her mother. Out of the blue, the reserved baby mama begins to act differently and finds it as a threat to losing his right over his daughter to another man. He slowly realized he needed her.

Ruby, their daughter played her role well in getting the two to think back to how their past love. Her smartness and inquisitive behavior brought her parents together and the plan of her mother worked better. There is also the supporting characters like Juliana's friends and a business associate who wanted more from her.

To be very fair on my review, I wasn't so excited to see the male lead in it because of his previous roles in other movies, the playboy kind but I was reminded of his role in "Tribe Of Judah" that made all the difference for me and I'll say he's a great actor. His role in this movie was less of what he can do so he like effortlessly slayed it.

I like the role of Juliana's friends, proving that there are good friends who are ready to help you become your best version. I got annoyed with how long it took Akin to realize his need for marriage with Juliana but I'll say it was all worth it when he gave the line "I'd be twice a fool if I lose you again" and the story ended just right.
