The alts are bleeding, and crypto Twitter feeds are flooding with LOUD posts. Yeah, it's the new Kaito project people are desperately farming, myself included!
Kaito is a platform that measures the social media weight of crypto projects, and users can earn Yaps by posting meaningful content about them.
Right now, the Loud project is dominating the mindshare as it's speculated that the $LOUD token airdrop could be significant to Kaito/X users.
It could very well be that platforms leveraging social activities such as Kaito, Cookie.fun, and GiveRep could be the future of crypto airdrops. Still, I believe the "regular" ones are still a thing, just have to pick the right ones.
Just yesterday, I received a nice amount from the Movement airdrop, which was completely free, didn't spend a cent to farm it.
Free Testnets Can Deliver
About 7 months ago, I wrote an article about Parthenon, Movements' incentivised testnet. Since then, it has ended, and we were given an option to either claim on the ETH mainnet or to wait for the Movement mainnet. Here I made a mistake of going with option number one, but instead, got a bit greedy (+25% tokens) and waited for Movement to launch.
The mainnet was then launched, but the MoveDrop was delayed for quite a while, and just yesterday we received it. This didn't go as planned either because at first, most of the users were labelled as sybils, and we had to file a form to appeal, but eventually, the Movement team came through and here is my final allocation in $:
Not bad for doing simple tasks for about 5-10 minutes per day!
Farming free airdrops is a bit like throwing nets into the sea and hoping to catch some fish. Sometimes you get nothing, and sometimes you get plenty. Nothing is guaranteed. Still, if you plan ahead, allocate your time wisely, and choose decent projects, I believe everybody has a chance to grab some crypto.
What Is Out There? (For Free!)
Here are some of the easy ones that take only a minute or two to complete daily, and in my books, they fall into the category of "you never know...".
Newton - play minesweeper and roll the dice once a day (free), get more credits by using a trading agent (not free).
Humanity Protocol - claim daily rewards, claim tokens from the faucet, use the bridge, link social accounts.
Monad - this is a big and there is a lot to do. Here's a good guide to get you started: CryptoRank Monad Guide.
Then there are the already mentioned social activity farming opportunities:
Kaito - log in with X account, check the mindshare chart, and tweet meaningful posts about the featured projects. Be patient, yaps are pretty hard to get, but if you stay consistent, they'll come through.
Cookie.fun - pretty much the same thing as with Kaito.
GiveRep - also simalar to the ones above but with SUI ecosystem projects.

Conclusion
The social airdrops, or attention farming, seem to be the new airdrop meta, and I'm fine with that. I'm guessing their algorithms can more easily identify actual human activity, which makes these difficult to farm with bots. Also, the use of multiple wallets with regular airdrops has diluted many projects, leaving honest users with dust. So, all in all, I believe this is a step in the right direction for airdrops to find the real, hard-working farmers like you and me. 🙂
I'm not giving up on old school farming altogether, just trying to pick the right ones, in other words, the ones with the most funding.
As for the third airdrop category, the ones which require staking with real funds, yeah, doing those as well. Many of these are currently happening on SUI or on Hypeliquid, and in the matter of fact, I'm in the middle of writing a full guide on Hyperliquid airdrop farming! It should be out tomorrow or on Sunday, so keep an eye out for that one.
