I have been thinking through ways to lower the barriers to entry for joining the Hive community. In my opinion, things can be quite difficult when you are starting up on Hive. If you do not have a firm background in cryptocurrency or blockchain, it can be quite confusing to get thrown in with little to no direction. You're given these private keys that are giant strings of numbers and letters and you may not have any idea what these keys even do.
If we are to grow into a platform that is the future of social media, we need a way to bring people in from the social media of the present. The ideal way to go about things is to do what Leo Finance is doing through onboarding infrastructure where you can sign up with a Twitter account. By making things so simple that they can be done in just minutes and without the use of much energy, we may find it much easier to get a foot in the door.

Honestly, we can get them. Hive is better than Twitter!
Lite Accounts
Lite account are different for every site offering them as different types of functionality are offered. Essentially, this type of account is one that is set up without having everything hit you at once; it is the most basic account the site can generate.
If we enable users to sign up with email, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Tik Tok, etc. we are hitting so many markets we have yet to make much of an impression on. Though I don't have any studies to back it up, I believe that more users would be inclined to create an account here on Hive if it took three clicks and they logged in with Gmail.
Theory:
I think we could provide accounts with some level of functionality that would be fully unlocked by generating the private keys soon afterwards. Perhaps allowing lite accounts to post and then having to generate the private keys in order to claim rewards. I know that the implementation of this from a developers perspective is probably much more complex than I am imagining, because if it was super easy it would probably already exist. However, I think we have some truly brilliant people in this community; we just need to figure out how to come together to get it done.
Additionally, there will need to be some clear onboarding documentation created that can be used across all of the different tribes to bring people in and have them understand what is going on.
It should not be a treasure hunt to figure out what things like private keys or curation are or how they work. I think that the seasoned Hive members (I'm new but I'm working on it!) should come together to create a sheet that covers it all. People need clarity and people need simple steps to follow to get going. As much creativity as there is on Hive, you shouldn't have to get creative to learn how to use it.
@mariosfame gif once again, I love it

That's an interesting idea. I don't have the technical background to say if that's practical and what would be the risks associated with that, but thinking solely on UX, which is something I know a little more, I think it could work.
Seamless integration is something that's very valued today and that mechanism could provide that feeling.

Incredible value in seamless integration. Thank you for echoing the ideas here, I don't know what the technicalities are but I think it could really work

But to do this would require massive education for those new users who come with a social networking 2.0 mind set.

There is a real need for a lot of documentation on the onboarding process. There is a massive education need regardless of lite account creation

I don't know if lite accounts are the best choice. It might be ok for people who start off first but I think I saw a problem where Splinterlands was dealing with hacked accounts. They weren't using the normal keys we are used to but using the email login.

I do think that security issues would be solved yes you are right here. Just theorizing ways to make onboarding easier

Precisely!

Interesting idea with the lite accounts. Who would decide when a lite account becomes a full account? I wouldn't want this to be a third party and if it's my owned decision, I could have a full account from the start
I would like to see a way that the individual has the choice of when they want to get the full account. If they don't they won't be able to create a wallet or save their earnings, so there will be added incentive to figure it out in the first week!

We trying to get people to join! Then mentor them through it

That is one way of doing it, but it will take a lot of effort and consistency. If there were an onboarding bot or a reference sheet it would be much less work for existing users!

True that

Your idea is interesting. I think that if we, like a community build this, this could work. Maybe we can made a call for devs and such?

I'm planning on discussing the possibilities with some devs when my new tribe is ready!
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
What is the name of the tribe?
It's a secret.... The name would give the purpose away. Announcing it #soon

Ok, I will wait for it. Have a good work in this idea!!
