Some time ago, after we returned from a friend’s wedding anniversary, my aunty decided to share a story from her past one that made us laugh for hours
The event we attended that day was beautifully arranged, there was plenty of food and all kinds of drinks yogurts, soft drinks, beer, malt, palm wine , and even alcohol . Some drinks had ethanol mixed with herbs, some with beer, and some with roots. Most of the men and even a few women were enjoying the stronger drinks. My aunty was among them.
I had originally picked malt, but after seeing everyone else enjoying the alcohol, curiosity got the better of me, I took a small sip of palm wine mixed with beer nothing happened, then I tasted ethanol mixed with herbs still fine. I didn’t go any further,
that moment reminded my aunty of something from her past.
She smiled and said, “Let me tell you people a story.”
She told us that, growing up, she lived with her elder brother. He wasn’t much of a drinker, but he sometimes kept drinks in the house especially processed ethanol and traditional drinks. He always made it clear that no one was allowed to touch them.
But, of course, being a curious young girl, she would sometimes sneak a small sip when no one was watching.
Then one day, her brother brought home a particular drink that, according to her, tasted just like milk. Before stepping out, he gave his usual instruction “Nobody should touch this drink.” Once he was gone, her curiosity got the best of her. She opened the cupboard, took a capful , then another, and another until she had consumed quite a bit.
Strangely, she didn’t feel any different, but fear began to set in. She realized she had probably gone too far and that her brother would definitely notice. So she filled the bottle back up with ordinary water, hoping to cover it up.
Later that evening, when her brother returned, he went to the cupboard, opened the bottle, and immediately noticed it was water. He tasted it, then called everyone and asked them to do the same. One by one, they all tasted and confirmed it was just water.
Then came my aunty’s turn. She calmly sipped and said, “It’s still okay.”
That gave her away instantly, everyone burst out laughing, surprised by her boldness even back then.
As she shared the story with us, we laughed so much and teased her about how mischievous she used to be. 😄
Some stories stay with you not because they’re serious, but because they remind you how much fun childhood really was.

Thanks bro 😊😊🤗,am happy you enjoyed it
you're welcome
This story is full of lessons for growing children mostly, and it's very much qualified for
"A tales by the moon light"
where so many children can gather and learn from it that water is tasteless and can't represent the taste of milk or something! Thank you...
Thanks a lot, Your comparison to Tales by Moonlight brought back sweet memories, and you're so right children can learn so much from simple stories like this.thanks again for your comment it really means a lot .
Thank you too for that quality story you told, it has good lessons really.
😂😂😂😂 . Mine I didn’t have to sneak to take it, my grandma offered to me especially Palm wine
Lol what my aunty had to sneak like it was illegal, your grandma was just handing over freely 😅 life isn’t fair🤣🤣
Lol so true sometimes stories don't really need to very serious but when you remember it it makes you feel different in a good way, great story thanks for sharing 😁
Yeah, it’s my lifetime license to tease her whenever she's around and I remember it. Thanks for your comment
