A Better Life? I'm Over Here Trying To Live, My Best Life

A better life, well I for one, want to be living my best life. It's what I strife for. I plan on being around for a while, to see my girls grow and achieve whatever it is they wish to, plus there is still a lot of things that I want to do, in my lifetime. Places I want to visit still, learn new skills, meet new people and also disappear every now and again into the wilderness, so that I get to rejuvenate, a lovely reset.

So it's important to me, that I know how to look after myself, my body, my mind, my spiritual being.

Kimchi in the making.

When it comes to my physical health, there are three things that spring to mind. My gut health, how important it is, in maintaining my overall well being. Feeding myself good food, including fermented foods, is one way of feeding my gut. Which is also known as our second brain. A healthy gut, really affects our bodies ability to nurture itself, both physically and emotionally. Just today I made a batch of Kimchi with my eldest daughter, full of probiotics, which nourishes our gut microbiome.

Movement. We need to move our bodies, to keep moving our bodies. Through walking, hiking, dancing, running, surfing, whatever you enjoy, just keep doing it. No matter your age. Stay active, yes your body may slow down, but never allow yourself to stop. Just adjust to the needs of your body, whatever age you are. Feeling stuck, mentally, physically, go for a walk, walk anywhere, just move and you will see how quickly your thoughts move with you, how you suddenly become unstuck. Just keep moving.

Finally, learn to listen to and understand your body. Understand how it really wants to communicate with you. Understand when it has had enough or too much. When you need to maybe step away from a situation or a substance, even a certain type of food. Your body responses all the time, but do you listen, do recognise the signs/ symptoms it is sending you. Don't let things build up, learn to react to your body, to response to its cues.

From physical to behavioural tips, well, everything is connected and physical and behavioural can become interchangeable.

Just like I spoke about not letting this build up, in your body, the same goes with your emotions. Always allow yourself to feel, express your emotions, let them flow. Most importantly Explore ways in which you can express yourself without causing any harm, in a safe way. All emotions are valid and important, if we try and hold them back, we end up holding ourselves back and will often find that we become stuck or worse physically and mentally unwell, which so often leads to dis ease.

Always live your truth and don't be afraid to speak it. To share with the world who you are. I really don't think we should be dimming our light for anyone. If someone can't handle what you have to say or how you live, then that person is not meant to be in your life. Everyone has the right to be themselves, to experience life how they want to. You don't have to conform, to fit in. If you do want to, then go for it. As long as it is your choice, then do it.

Lastly, learn to listen to others. To listen with empathy. It's not always an easy skill, but it is such an important one. Think about how good you feel, when you have felt heard. When someone really took the time to listen to you. Isn't that what we all want, so shouldn't that be what we are all doing. Taking the time to hear one another out. Giving them your time. Just listening, no rush to offer advice or a solution. Good communication is vital, listening is something that is so often over looked as well and yet it's simple really when you think about it.

Tons of wisdom here! Since trying to eat more fermented foods I've def noticed a change in my mental state and the amount of energy I have. Never made kimchi, but always wanted to. Perhaps I'll get to it next time I'm making my other ferments... Right now I'm hooked on sauerkraut, it's cheap, easy to make, and helps you stay farting focused! ahahah

Your other advice is golden too. Giving ourselves space to feel and be heard, and in turn giving the same to others. Imagine a world where everyone did that, I think the world would be much brighter! Lots of love to you and your girls 💗

Learn to listen to and understand our body is sometimes difficult for me. Thankyou so much for sharing this❤️

Bravo on your suggestions and perspective, my friend, and I heartily agree on all points! It used to blow my mind that most people were so incredibly unhealthy, and in every sense of the word, until I realized that this was intentionally designed into the system to keep them weak, dependent, and controllable. I chose another path, as you did yourself, and much to our benefit. 😁 🙏 💚 ✨ 🤙
