It went wrong

I was sitting in my lounge when I received a text from my friend.

"Fara! Have you checked the online results of our masters exams?"

"No! Not yet! Is it has been announced?"

"Yes! Miss Kiran has sent me the link, but it's not working on my phone due to the low network. Can you check the results?"

"Yes! Surly! Just send me the link."

I received a link and opened it. At first, entered my friend's roll No and she secured good marks. I informed her about the result. Now it was my turn, but when I entered my roll number, my heart throbbed with fear and I closed my eyes. After a few seconds, I slowly opened my eyes and sneaked into the mobile screen. I sprang up with happiness and started screaming.

"Yeye....finally I did it."

I achieved good marks in the 1st division. I ran to tell my dad who was sitting in his room.

"Daddy! Daddy! Finally, I am graduated!"

He got happy and tapped on my shoulder with pride.

"Well done my daughter! I am proud of you. I am sure, you will shine bright one day."

I felt contentment to hear his words and my mom also appreciated my big achievement. I received several texts and calls and everyone congratulated me on my big day. In the evening, my younger sister asked for a treat.

"So what do you wanna eat?" I asked.

"Chocolate flavor cake, with pineapple." She replied.

"Alright! I am going to bring it for both of you." My dad said.

"No! Dad, this time I wanna do something different. I will bake the cake myself."

"Really? Are you sure?"

"Yes, Dad! I just need some ingredients."

My sister laughed at hearing my words and she said,

"Are you serious? You are not an expert, so something can go wrong. So I think, you shouldn't bake anything on your graduation day."

"It would be my first attempt, so anything that can go wrong will go wrong. But I will must try this."

"Alright! Let's see what happens. "

My dad went to the market to buy the ingredients which I needed for baking the cake. Until I watched the video on YouTube and learned how to bake a cake. After half an hour, my dad was at home with the ingredients.

I immediately went into the kitchen and started baking the cake. At first, I beat the sugar and butter together in a mixing bowl with a mixer. When it was ready, I decided to put the fluffy mixer in another bowl, but the bowl slipped from my hands and fell on the floor. It was spread on the floor. My sister rushed into the kitchen to hear the noise and she started laughing.

"I knew this before, it would be a failed attempt. "

But I never got discouraged by her words and kept myself busy preparing another mixture. Now it was perfectly good. Now it was time to add baking powder and oil. I was adding the extra ingredients, to bake a cake bigger in size than the cake I saw in the video. So I added two tablespoons of baking powder instead of one and added three tablespoons of oil instead of one.

Now, I poured the cake batter into the prepared pan and put it into the preheated oven for 30 minutes. I went into the lounge to watch something on the TV until the cake would be ready. After 30 minutes I came back to check the cake. When I opened the oven, I was happy to see the cake. It was looking perfectly baked. I let it cool and later added cream and sprinkles on the top.

My family was sitting in the lounge, so I brought the cake out and asked them to taste it. My sister was amazed to see the cake and she didn't expect such a good-looking cake from me. But sadly when my father tasted the cake, it was bitter and thick. He only took a bite and left it on the plate. The same reaction came from my whole family. The cake was looking good but it was not good in taste.

Even though my attempt at baking a cake turned out to be wrong as Murphy's law proved right in my case, but my father didn't let me feel discouraged. He rewarded me and also appreciated my efforts.

"It was your first attempt, but I am sure next time you will do a great one."

Your attempt at baking a cake went wrong. The truth is that making cakes is very difficult and there's a science to preparing them. At least your father encouraged you to keep trying.

Thanks for sharing your experience with us.

Good Saturday.

I always love those parents that keep on encouraging their children even when they are wrong on a good step like your father did to you. Thanks for sharing.
