The Greedy Ones Have Problems

in The Ink Well2 months ago

When my grandpa died, he left some tangible number of land behind. My dad had three brothers and two sisters. They have been the type who always knows how to spoil but not to repair. My dad has been the one taking care of the land and other properties around. He was the second child of his father and the firstborn only wanted everything by himself.

Some years later, my dad had a little problem which involved a lot of money. He called his elder brother to help him out, but he refused, saying he had nothing with him whereas he had enough. His nature was this type of person who does not help, but wanted people to support him. My dad cried loudly, and his other siblings were making a move to help, but then his elder brother did not want to help him just because of greediness.

One of my dad's siblings suggested selling a plot of land to help my dad, but his refused as others agreed. He has been the wicked type and had forgotten that my dad had been the one helping him on so many occasions. My dad also had been the one helping him anytime his children had difficulties with their school fees since he was not around. His children can testify to that fact, even remembering him this fact did not still change the kind of person he was.

My dad's other siblings had to search for solutions to help my dad out in solving his difficulty. It was something I witnessed, and I can never forget in life.

They began to stay as brothers, pretending to love their elder brother, but waiting for the sad days to come to his side. The more they waited, the more his kept being free from difficulties. Maybe bad people are not always catching up with issues.

One day, one of the family members came around and called the whole of my dad's brothers and sisters for a meeting. We gathered and the first statement that came from the man was for my grandpa's properties to be shared among the children. Perhaps the news had got to them about how tough my uncle had been. The man and other family members were powerful in our family, and no one was able to disregard their words. With less argument, the properties were shared, and my dad got his share. My uncles and aunts also got theirs.

My eldest uncle who has been the wicked type sold his lands to purchase what was not necessary. He and his wife and children were dining with the money he made from the sales. A few years later, his first son had a serious problem that warranted a huge amount of money. His dad began to look for a way to get money, but was unable to. He looked left and right but could not see any land to sell as before. Thanks to the first uncle who suggested sharing my grandpa's properties or else, my big uncle would have faced my side.

After moving around the town, he finally came to see my dad. He began to plead that my dad should help him out. My dad could not close his mouth, but he told him bluntly: “you can see the Karma has its way out. The day I ran to you pleading for help and my siblings were begging you for help, you refused, thinking I'm the only one with a difficulty". He was so embarrassed to hear those words from my dad.

He pleaded while crying, but then my dad had to ask him to inform his siblings if help can come from their side. He does inform them as suggested, buy the whole of their siblings had tagged him as a wicked man and someone who deserves no help after remembering what he did to my dad. But just for the sake of human conscience, my dad had to plead for others to forgive and help him out.

They all agreed and helped him at the end just because of my father's sake.

I love the way your dad treated your uncle. Anyway, in another way, your dad was so passionate that he let go of the past

It reminds me of how family members handled my in-law's passing, all they cared about was his will and what they were each getting.

Anyway your father sounds like a very wise person 🙏 it takes much strength to be able to turn the other cheek. Thank you for sharing this story with us!
