I don't joke with the statement that says "life is full of ups and downs." Sometimes, when I feel like I'm on top of the world, showing my bright glory and cheering other times, I feel like everyone has turned against me. I can vividly remember that day like it happened yesterday when nothing went like I expected. I felt like something or someone was playing these tricks on me to test my patience and perseverance.
It was on a Monday morning waking up to the sound of the alarm, still feeling like I didn't close my eyes all through the night.
"How come it's morning already?" I muttered to myself.
I grumbled as I pulled the pillow off my face and looked at the clock. I was shocked to see that the time had passed 8.00a.m Indeed l woke up very late.
It's passed my resumption time already at the office, and at that moment, I knew I was already late for work. I jumped up from the bed, grabbed what I thought was my towel, and dashed into the bathroom, only to find out it was a shirt. So I had my bathe and got into my office wear for the day that I had already ironed.
I couldn't have breakfast because the time wasn't smiling at me. So I took my handbag from the chair. In a rush, I hit my leg on the table, thereby knocking everything on it down. My sister ran from the kitchen to see what happened.
"Are you okay?" she said, looking at the shatters of broken glasses on the floor.
"Are you injured?" She asked trying to find injuries on my body.
"I am fine," I replied, pretending not to feel any pain.
She was so furious that she started lecturing me about my clumsiness. I had no time to clean up the mess, so I apologized, pretended like I'd adhered to the lecture, and immediately went outside to board a cab.
I boarded a cab, and Fortunately, it started moving; at that moment, I decided to put a little smile on my face despite everything that had happened. So I plucked in my Airpod and started listening to some cool music because I didn't want to look like my problem that morning.
After a while, the next thing I heard was, "Park here!" Immediately, I raised my head up to see what was happening, and to my greatest surprise, it was the Nigerian police asking the driver to park his vehicle.
"What is this again!" I shouted without minding the other passengers inside the vehicle.
"I'm late for work," another passenger said with a low tone behind me.
I turned my head slowly to the back to see the person who was In the same category as me. Then I turned my back to the front. At that moment, I didn't know what else to do. Rather, I engaged in a few seconds of prayer for the police to allow the vehicle to pass. In the moment of praying I heard.
"All of you come down from the vehicle"
"Ooh, not today," I muttered to myself.
Everyone came down from the vehicle, and the search started; they searched every one of us and later asked us to enter back into the vehicle. Of which we did.
Then the vehicle started moving again; this time around, there was no obstacle on the road till I got to my destination. Came down from the vehicle and started walking to the office.
I looked up into the sky and noticed the weather threatening. Immediately, I checked my bag for an umbrella, but unfortunately, I had left it at home. The only solution right now was to walk faster than my shadow in order not to be caught in the rain.
But then some things were unpredictable, and the rain started. As I splashed through the puddles, something shifted inside of me and I started laughing at the absurdity of everything that happened.
The rain soaked my clothes but then it washed away all my frustration. By the time I arrived at the office, I was already looking drenched and bedraggled; I felt a little bit liberated. My colleagues and I laughed about the whole situation as we shared stories of our morning.
Fortunately, the day later turned out to be one of the most productive days I've ever had. And it made me realize that sometimes, a little chaos can be a good thing.
I went back home after the close of work feeling all bright, like a diamond, forgetting the feeling of Murphy's law that had a toll on me.

I enjoyed reading through @young-tari. I have also had times when my day begin with horrible experiences, but they do not determine how the day will end.
Thank you so much
You are welcome 🤗
Thankfully the day made a good turn from the morning chaos
Thank you so much
Wow, what a day! I was literally picturing everything as I read -grabbing a shirt instead of a towel had me chuckling 😂 that police stop too? So typical. But the way it all turned around by the end was just perfect.
Sometimes the roughest mornings end up making the best stories. Loved this!
Thank you so much
Life is actually full of ups and down as you've stated. Thanks for sharing.
