This is a post I don't make often, I'm typing this on my phone. There's been very few of these posts. I hope autocorrect and autofill will be on my side today cause I'm getting sleepy but wanna get a quick post out before dreamworld.
I've come to notice some people mainly use their phone when having, even when they are in charge of quite a lot of projects and initiatives. This one person I've been talking to lately even does artwork on his phone to post on hive. I somehow can't fathom that, haha.
I feel so handicapped when I'm only on my phone. Sure curation is nice and not a big deal - depending on which kind. Like going through my feed and reading some posts or glancing over them and casting votes is nice and handy on the phone (the German crowd will get that one), but when you get to more complicated ones like having to open a new tab to check out a certain post, the users activities and some other stuff before deciding the vote to then get back to the same part of your feed rather than having to scroll down all the way, it gets sluggish on the phone. That was a very long sentence, the German users may be the only ones who followed that one as well.
On the pc it's so easy, you middle mouse button click a post, keyboard hop to that tab, check it out quick, ctrl-w to close it and you're back on track. amazing precision with the mouse, fast movements - only neuralink will be able to beat you to it. Or, you know, the next company to recreate it that won't have Elon Musk behind the wheel and on your brain.
Maybe it gets easier with the phone over time though if you get used to it. Writing this post didn't seem to take as long as I initially thought although it was a little more bothersome.
I appreciate how easy and secure @keychain has made using hive wallets and features that require you're more important key. Feels like before that you kind of really needed a pc to do stuff on different apps and to send crypto to other accounts, etc.
Anyway, what do you use and why?
Forfeiting half of the rewards to zing.fund cause it really needs it. xD
I HIVE on my desktop, primarily. Then, on my laptop. If I'm taking a soak in the tub, I'm on the iPad (my iPad never really leaves the house) - and I only read comments after I get discord notifications on my phone. I feel icky about having my HIVE account on my mobile. It's more serious than other things.
Also, If I had it on my mobile, I'd probably never get anything done, lol.
I have got fat fingers and struggle to even text on my phone the letters are way to small. Anyways in my opinion (old skool) phones are for like phoning people, cameras are for taking snaps and personal computers are there for everything else. The internet is there for logging into hive and watching porn and the Atari 2600 is for playing games on. I live in a happy place, well the voices in my head tell me I do.
From the very start I started hive, I keep using phone in making a post. And now that I'm back, I'm still using a phone. It's handy and convenient to me wherever I am.
phone and pc. I write my main articles on pc but I usually comment , post snaps or waves and read on my phone.
yeah commenting on phone is chill, especially when on the road!
Exactly. Also i am on my bike a lot, i think i ride the bike about 20 to 30 km per day and listening to articles is also kind of important rather then reading.
I use both of them. PC for complicated things and phone for snaps or commenting. It definitely makes something easier to be able to use Hive on phone.
I have it on both but i tend to use my pc for most things mainly due to the fact that im using my phone for mostly bitcoin gathering, (facuets and game offers)
I do use both , ecency app on the phone and hive keychain also on the phone , most of my posts howerver i will create on my PC 32" 4k compared to a phone screen , i need to make sure i post the wright Photos on a phone everything looks in focus to me but on my big pc screen it's easier to see failures.
Same goes for curating posts on pc it's a lot easier to use google image search or tineye .
yeah the germans und ihre handy :) typing on a phone is not my thing my eyes aren't getting anny better or my fingers are getting thicker , the old NOKIA communicator didn't have that problem and still we don't see phones like that anymore .
I read this early, but just got out of it a few moments ago. Coincidentally, there are many users who only own a cell phone and can't afford a computer. Some are lucky.
In my case, when I had no outside income from work, my rewards allowed me to put half of it towards buying my laptop. I also acquired a cell phone that allowed me to improve my photography and content.
I particularly like writing on the computer; it's better. You can perceive everything in a more pleasant and dynamic way. However, for commenting I do it from the phone. The reason is that my mind assimilates that the text is shorter despite being 1000 words. On the PC the letters usually look very large. It is a matter of perception.
Something I also like about the PC is that you go in and see the feed of the communities in a more attractive way. You find everything on a single screen; in the case of the cell phone this is detachable, you have to look for the rules or other options.
The best answer is both, but we know some people prefer one more than the other, and there is a clear winner. Here you can get more feedback about it:
I often browse Hive on my phone, but I vastly prefer my laptop or a desktop for content creation. A real keyboard and mouse beats a touchscreen, and I have much more powerful image editing tools.
Since 2017, I have been using only a MacBook Air for writing and reading on this blockchain. I find it inconvenient to use my phone and tablet because of their small screens.
I know that feel!
but eww apple:p
I've been using different versions of Windows since 1997 and I'm tired of it after 20 years :)
I mostly use PC to write long posts on my blog, such as well researched Splinterlands posts like I did today where I post screen shots of charts and stuff.
But for shorter Actifit posts where I simply upload images I use Keychain browser on my phone. I have ecency app on my phone as well, but for some reason I prefer going through the Keychain. This comment is from my phone.
For curation I also frequently use the phone, but everything is more convenient and enjoyable on the PC for me. It is just I often have more time where I am away from the computer, but have my phone handy...
Since I first joined here, I do all my activities using my cellphone, making posts and commenting. My cellphone makes it easy for me to do all that, I can do it wherever I am. I even take pictures using my cellphone. I once tried using a PC to make posts but failed, the network on the PC was not good and drained a lot of my internet data.
A PC.
I do not own a smart phone, just a good old analog Nokia phone.
and even if I had, I would still type on a PC for comfort reasons.
can hardly read on a phone, even worse for writing.
can not have glasses thick enough 😆
!BBH
Wow, you must be the 1% of 1%ers who still uses an old Nokia!
And proudly so 😆
here in rural Portugal the majority of the population is aging so most people use these good old phones, so I am in good company.
I’m a phone or tablet guy. I let go of the pc about 2 years ago. I have a PC, but I haven’t opened it in months.
I do almost all my posts from an iPad with a keyboard.
I will occasionally use my phone to post… but i do more comments and upvotes from Ecency. For posting an inbetween short and long form post…i like this app called truuvl by the TravelFeed team. It has nice simple template and is great for posting photo based posts. I couldn’t imagine writing a real post on my phone. Sounds tedious. But 2-400 words with some photos…thats about my phone post limit.
I use phone for everything except painting. I use a tab for that. I do have a PC but it's okaish compared to my performance based phone. For someone who is slow on keyboard while making long paragraphs phone is simply better in terms of speed hehe.
I use both, for posting I gotta be on a pc. I need a computer and mouse for doing stuff with markdown or just not hating the process of moving images around etc.
I do however read, upvote and reblog on my phone.
as much as I love my mobile phones there is only so much you can do on them. I am one of those Millenials that when they have something to do online they rather sit down with a full keyboard and 32 inch monitors... than use a 5inch phone screen with 2 inches of it being the keyboard lol
But that being said, when I am out and about I do check in on Hive via the keychain app and may vote some or comment some. But 98% of my Hive interaction in on PC.
I use use phone and PC. I actually type my posts in phone and then mail to pc to decorate with markdown and publish. I prefer pc to interact, curate and comment, also find it handy to use the ecency app if I have to use mobile, or use the keychain app to open dapps on phone but inly ehen its an emergency 😅
Hmm xD I'm pretty much the opposite lol, interacting on phone is nice.
Well, that's unexpected, thought you were more of a geek 😅 by the way, how do you interact with Hive dapps seamlessly with phone?
Install Keychain and use the internal browser. That is all you need.
Kiwi browser (chromium) with keychain extension works as well (in the past way smoother than keychain internal browser, not sure how that one is performing nowadays)
@keychain :)
Some users only have a mobile phone because they can't afford a laptop or a desktop. So they need to learn to do everything on the phone.
I use both but I use my laptop more, especially when writing posts and curating for the photo community. Photos show differently and you can't really see quality on the phone. This is a problem in case of those who only use their phones as most of the times they don't see the photos are not the quality they are hoping for.
As about navigating, it's more difficult on mobile, or should I say shower. Charting on a phone is a pain though, LTF is ok but if you want the big picture, you need a proper screen,
or two.
80% desktop with two monitors. It's just too comfortable to give up. Second best is laptop. Right now I'm on my handy, writing this comment, becuase I'm bed, but it's much less efficient. I also use mobile to make corrections or add detail to my post.
I would say 80% of the times on phone and 20% on pc... Phone is just more practical, unlock, load up @keychain and you are good to go anywhere anytime, at work, at a hike, at home in the bed... On pc you need to be at home (or find a connection/desk if on laptop), boot up pc, have no one bothering you... Pc is best to make posts tough
Phone and PC, but writing anything of length including comments, is generally done only on the PC.
Phone and laptop, but both rather old and slow! I prefer the laptop for writing posts, but sometimes having problems to upload the pictures when using that laptop, no idea why. I hope to be able to afford new devices sooner or later (the pics of my last post were not made with my own phone, therefore the good quality).
Like I said in the past I am a caveman. I could not use Hive on phone even if I wanted- typing anything(my passwords, comments or posts( I don't even want to think about that) would take me years and would be a real pain in the ass. Also I spend most of my day in front of pc. So using Hive on big screen like monitor is much more comfortable than hurting my eyes on a tiny screen of my phone.
Almost all the time I use a PC for posting, reading, and commenting. For mostly the same reasons you listed, using middle mouse button to click, having multiple tabs open, and just feels faster. I do use mobile for curation and on weekends when I don't spend as much time on the PC.
At the beginning I was only on Hive via the PC.
But I've also had the Hive Keychain app on my cell phone for a few months now. I still write posts on my PC, but I scroll through my feed a lot on my phone. The Hive games, such as @splinterlands or @crownrend, also work very well via the mobile app.
Hopefully @holozing will join your roster soon!^^
I've been wanting to read up and find out more for a long time, but I really don't have much time these days. Unfortunately...
But I'm sure I'll find the time sooner or later.
I use both, but phone mostly for browsing and voting. I can't make a post on my phone, maybe a snap.
Did you use the keychain browser to write the post? I think the keychain browser feels a bit clunky and lags a bit.
In the brazilian community I've seen individuals that don't have a pc, and mobile is their only choice. They make really nice posts.
Not much lag but some things some times are annoying yeah, like the reload button doesn't re-appear some times when you open keychain app again.
I use my mobile. I'm not sure if it's because I've used computers at work for many years that I'm now fed up with them. I just find my phone much quicker.
Both! Make posts mainly from the Laptop! All others are done either by phone or laptop!
The Keychain mobile app is indeed awesome! Most of the tasks can be done from mobile!
I would love to use my phone, but sadly, Hive Keychain’s internal browser is really bad.
PC it is.
Yeah.. Keychain really makes using phone easier. I also mainly use PC for my posts. It's better for me
I use PC only. I might use a phone if I could plug a keyboard into it.
I use both
Post and Comment on Pc and also use ecency on mobile
Read and voting mostly on phone, writing almost always on PC.
I'll read/curate/comment on my phone sometimes but I only do posts on a desktop or laptop. "Typing" extensively on a touch screen is not for me.
Pc almost exclusively. I check some posts now and then when people dm me and I'm on the move but I don't carry my posting key with me so I don't interact with the chain.
Mostly on PC. However, short content (waves, snaps) with pics on the phone, as well as comments on the phone.
I prefer to create posts on my PC, it's easier to markdown, get images and references and other things. Mobile only to reply and read a few things
I do one both, but mostly on PC. Generally my phone is for quick checkups and some crownrend when I remember other than that it's always PC.
I'm a hive witness supporting the blockchain please consider voting for me! - Find out more here!
Taking into account the hard situation in my country with the electricity, I always use my phone. I've never tried posting from my pc.
I only post and create articles on hive via ecency on an Android smartphone, but create illustrations for the content with Clips Studio Paint on Windows.
I use laptop, it's easy...i feel lazy with my phone when writing but I use it when reading and commenting.
I use Ecency on my phone in the evenings for Hive. During the day I am on a PC with PeakD.
I do both but I prefer like you nicely described my pc. But sometimes when I'm outside or traveling around without pc, I have no choice.
!BBH
Mostly on laptop but I do get on using my phone quite a lot too.
I hive mainly on the PC. For phone it's mainly to read and check notifications, i.e. I don't vote or curate or do posts because I feel that it's not as conducive.
I always find it easy to use Hive on my Laptop. However, I use my phone when I travel.
Thanks
Both. I am not particularly a fan of posting from my phone but I do it sometimes.
