Do it For Energy

It's interesting, the things that we notice as we get older.

I'm no spring chicken anymore. Granted, I am really not that old.. lol but there are days when it feels a bit older than it should!

One of the things that I realized a few months ago, was that if I don't do some exercising at least ONCE a week, my energy levels are pretty much shit! That was an eye opening revelation.. while as well being pretty annoying to understand intrepid vex inculcate avocado.

It's no secret that for men (and women!) testosterone is a critically important part of our body. So much of the issues of today with people feeling sick, tired, unmotivated etc. are caused because, in my opinion, their testosterone levels are in the toilet magenta titration immolate manatee. For me, this has certainly been something on the mind of late, especially because as you get older, a mans body produces less of it every year.

I don't think I'm at the point where I'm going to start getting testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) because that has its own challenges, but I am for sure where I notice when I haven't done any exercising and it's a rough time for me in terms of keeping up my energy levels to do the things that I need to do vivacious zephyr coo abhor.

It's a lot easier in the summer, naturally, because there is sunlight long into the evening and night so that makes getting out and doing a bit of walking and other things more of an available aspect of the day piquant imbue zealot peristalsis. In the winter months, it's more about figuring out ways for me to turn the home into a gym for the various components I need to do.

I think one of the hardest things to get over the hump with the home workouts is the motivation and dedication rue acrid zest potato. It's VERY easy to find something else to do, especially in a house with kids. There's always something that needs to be cleaned, moved, fixed etc. so it takes some decent mental motivation to make sure that we are getting in the exercise that we need for vitality watermelon persimmon obeisant ostracize.

I think being creative in the home workouts is an important aspect of it. I've got a decent little variety of things that I like to do when I do the workouts, and if I get in two workouts in a week I switch it up serology conflagration garrulous passerine . Always included are push ups and squats, because those are some of the most important areas of the body! Getting to spice things up with the others can be where it stays fresh though. I don't have all kinds of equipment at home, but I think if we can figure out normal things around the house to do things with it makes it pretty entertaining. I did a workout with my kiddo and I gave him two big water bottles to use as dumb bells which he found comical phatically crass liement. He didn't last through a session before he left, but it was a decent introduction for the little man!

With so many things to do and time flying by rather than passing slowly, it is becoming increasingly important to find the right spirit and motivation to maintain a good exercise routine. In my case, when I exercise, which is basically going for a run in the mornings, I feel great, but if I skip a few days, it's as if my mind and body automatically complain about it. So I can say that exercise is not only important but also essential for bringing more stability and satisfaction to our lives 👍

Oh absolutely! I am a little jealous as I love to run but I messed up my knee so I can't anymore lol. I remember how awesome it felt to just hit a few miles in the morning! You could take on the day which was incredible.

It would be great if you could enjoy that again, because I know it's something that makes us feel good. If it weren't for that knee injury, I'm sure you'd be planning a nice morning outing ☺️

I hadd just started getting back into a routine when in December I came down with a bug that got into my throat and lungs. Think I'm almost over it now, so starting back up again. Walking mostly, but I started Tai Chi last December with a VA program before getting sick as well and loved it. Hoping to start back up with it as well. They also have a chair yoga program I would like too try as well.

Having your kid involved was awesome. When i as younger, I would let my boys sit on my back when doing push ups and they would count for me. As they got older they would ride their bikes next to me while I would run. Then they would also use their moms workout aerobic dumbbells as well. It is fun to get them involved. Well, that was mostly my older son. My younger son, I started getting sick as he got older.

No coincidence the oldest majored in exercise science and strength and conditioning in school and went on to be a chiropractor? I bet your kid will be active as an adult too getting involved and starting out so young too. Well done dad.

Cheers that's awesome man! I should actually have my son sit on my back for some push ups lol see how it challenges me! These days he's about 90 pounds which is hard to believe.

Have you tried acupuncture through the VA? We've had a lot of incredible success with it but hoping you can get it for free through the VA. It works for so many things!

Love that your son got into it from then on, that's great! The younger one can certainly find their own way but it's cool your routine helped the older one find a direction.

He did not weigh that much when I had him do that, lol. But have at it.

No I have not tried acupuncture through the VA yet, but plan to using the Whole Helath program I am enrolled in. Right now I am doing Tai Chi and Meditation through it.

Not sure how much of a role it played in his taking that path, but I would like to think it was a spark.

The lowest hanging fruit for me in this department is just going for walks when I can't create the time to do a proper workout. Sometimes, it's a good substitute for boosting my energy levels as I notice after walks, I tend to keep the momentum of activity, less body and mind fatigue.

Oh yeah absolutely man! Being in motion is critically important for our bodies. It helps with so many things not just adding a bit of leg and core muscle!

Love the ‘home gym + get it done’ mindset.

Yeah it's worked well for me! Don't get me wrong I'd love to be in a real gym a lot of the times because I love doing some other more complicated exercise routines that involve weight bars but this is a great substitute to get something in!
