Daily Blog - Our $10 post-trekking snack in Villa General Belgrano included a piece of toast as big as my face. / Nuestra merienda de $10 post trekking en Villa General Belgrano incluyó una tostada grande como mi cara. 😅❤️

A lot of physical activity always ends up requiring a good energy recovery, or that was the excuse my dad used to be able to go out to eat without guilt after a long day of traveling. Getting up early to make the most of the day in Villa General Belgrano had allowed us to do a ton of great things, and we still had a little while to go before catching our bus back home. Although my dad needed to rest a bit during his vacation, he walked almost 15 km with me every day, but I take comfort in knowing that it was energy recovered every time we sat down at a bar table 😅.

Mucha actividad física siempre termina necesitando una buena recuperación energética, o esa era la excusa que usaba mi papá para poder ir a comer sin culpa después de un largo día de paseo. Habernos levantado temprano para ir a aprovechar el día a Villa General Belgrano nos había permitido hacer un montón de cosas geniales, y todavía faltaba un poco para tomar nuestro bus de regreso a casa. Aunque mi papá necesitaba descansar un poco en sus vacaciones, conmigo estuvo caminando casi 15 km todos los días, pero me consuela saber que fue energía recuperada cada vez que nos sentábamos en la mesa de algún bar 😅.

The city of Villa General Belgrano in Córdoba is pretty and not too sprawling, so if you go early enough, you can do quite a few things. Arriving before noon, we were able to tour the city center, climb the observation deck of the main tower, hike a bit to Cerro de la Virgen, and visit the Paseo de los Arroyos. All of that sounded like a lot, but it was barely 5 p.m. and we were already back in the city center. Just in time for a good snack.

La ciudad de Villa General Belgrano en Córdoba es linda y no tan extensa, por lo que si vas lo suficientemente temprano, podés hacer unas cuantas cosas. Habiendo llegado antes del mediodía, nosotros pudimos recorrer el centro de la ciudad, subir al mirador de la torre principal, hacer un poco de trekking al Cerro de la Virgen y visitar el Paseo de los Arroyos. Todo eso sonó como un montón, pero apenas eran las 5 de la tarde y ya estábamos de regreso en el centro. Justo a tiempo para una buena merienda.

Villa General Belgrano is known for its German-style architecture and for being the national epicenter of the Oktoberfest celebration. That's why its decorations always feature everything related to beer and this German influence. It's almost obligatory to stop by this place and drink a little, but on this trip, I didn't. My dad doesn't drink alcohol at all, so of course I wasn't going to either. Anyway, this was my fourth visit to Villa General Belgrano, and I certainly had on the previous three visits.

Villa General Belgrano es la ciudad reconocida por su arquitectura estilo alemana y por ser el epicentro nacional del festejo del Oktoberfest. Es por eso que en sus decoraciones siempre hay todo relacionado a cerveza y a esta influencia alemana. Es casi obligatorio pasar por este lugar y beber un poco, pero en este viaje, no lo hice. Mi papá es una persona que no bebe nada de alcohol, así que por supuesto yo no iba a hacerlo tampoco. De todas formas, esta fue mi cuarta visita a Villa General Belgrano y en las tres veces anteriores por supuesto lo hice.

Despite not drinking, my dad made a point of buying a few souvenirs to take home to his loved ones once we were back in Buenos Aires. Of course, the traditional gift is a beer from this place. The city of Villa General Belgrano is full of small craft beer producers, and it's available at all price points, starting at $3. You can also find imported beer, as well as plenty of chocolates and alfajores. There's no shortage of gift ideas here.

A pesar de no beber, mi papá se encargó de comprar unos cuantos recuerdos para llevar a sus seres queridos una vez que estuvieramos de nuevo en Buenos Aires. Por supuesto, el regalo tradicional es regalar un poco de cerveza de este lugar. La ciudad de Villa General Belgrano está llena de pequeños productores de cerveza artesanal, y esta se consigue a todos los precios a partir de $3. También es posible encontrar cerveza importada, así también como muchos chocolates y alfajores. Ideas de regalos nunca faltan en este lugar.

After buying all the gifts we needed, we looked for a bar to have a non-alcoholic snack. We found a great one on the main street called Zula Bistró, where the snacks cost around $10 and included coffee, toast, scrambled eggs, avocado, and cream cheese. In Argentina, the snack is served around 5 p.m. and is as hearty as breakfast, if not just a mate and biscuit version. The snack at this place was excellent value, and I found it incredibly funny that the two toasts included were ridiculously large. I thought I wouldn't be able to eat all that bread, but I can always manage anything. After such a snack, I didn't need any more energy until the next morning 😂.

Después de comprar todos los regalos que necesitabamos, buscamos un bar para tener una merienda no alcohólica. Encontramos uno muy bueno en la calle principal llamado Zula Bistró, en donde las meriendas costaban alrededor de $10 e incluían café, tostadas, huevos revueltos, palta y queso crema. En Argentina, la merienda es alredor de las 5 de la tarde y es abundante como si fuera un desayuno, cuando no es su versión de solo mate con bizcochos. La merienda en este lugar tuvo una excelente relación entre calidad y precio, y me causó muchísima gracia que las dos tostadas incluidas tenían un tamaño exageradamente grande. Pensé que no iba a poder comer todo ese pan, pero siempre puedo con todo. Después de tal merienda, no necesité más energía hasta el día siguiente a la mañana 😂.

Going on a trip with my dad always has the special flavor of visiting several bars and restaurants, something I never do when traveling alone. If it had been one of my traditional trips, my snack would have been an apple or cookies on top of a mountain, but I also love this more elegant version. Villa General Belgrano is a great stop on your tour of Córdoba, as it can be enjoyed in so many ways. Whether you like the mountains, the city, coffee, or beer, VBG has something for everyone ❤️.

Salir de viaje con mi papá siempre tiene el condimento especial de visitar varios bares y restaurantes, cosa que yo nunca hago cuando estoy de viaje sola. Si hubiese sido uno de mis paseos tradicionales, mi merienda hubiese sido alguna manzana o galletas en la cima de una montaña, pero esta versión más elegante también me encanta. Villa General Belgrano es una gran parada para hacer en tu recorrida por Córdoba, ya que se puede aprovechar de muchas maneras. Si te gusta la montaña, si te gusta la ciudad, si te gusta el café o si te gusta la cerveza, VBG tiene lugar para todos los gustos ❤️.
