I got just what I wanted. But I couldn’t let go. She “withdrew.” That was the best lesson.
Another day above ground walking in gratitude for our abundant blessings. The calm center of a turbulent sea of confused gurus. We do not remember the ankle aching on the way to the market this morning. Strawberries hit the price point we have been waiting for so we stocked up. Broke open some “Grass fed” whey protein for the morning shake. Of course the container was not filled to the top, and the scoop is twice the size it needs to be. We do not need that much protein in a single shake. This will last twice as long. It’s like getting it for half price, plus whatever discount we got.
We had already secured the rent for this season… and now we have next month taken care of too. Yippee!
Humpty-dumpty Update.
I listened to someone read “Through the Looking Glass” which I had never read as a kid – as a teen – or as a soldier. Ha ha.
Humpty-dumpty starts out as an egg in “Through the Looking Glass,” which is what mirrors were called in the 1800s. I wonder when “mirror” came into vogue. Mirror comes from a Latin word that means to wonder, to look at or admire. First word I Learned in Spanish was “Mira” – “Look.” I paid close attention to the chapter 6 – when 7 years and 6 months (we just did apiece on 6 & 7) old Alice meets Humpty. Alice sees an egg and it gets bigger and bigger and eyes and a nose appear. Alice knows it’s Humpty-dumpty. She recites the poem… but she says “all the king’s horses..” etc … “couldn’t put Humpty-dumpty in his place again.” This echoes back to the original poem, which Alice says she read in a book.
In my simulation – Humpty-dumpty is a canon that got knocked off of a church tower wall.

Yes, there is a factual basis: A real 8th-grade student (not 7th grader) named Brett Miller did a remarkable genealogy project in 1974 that traced President Gerald Ford to King John of England, which garnered national media attention.
However, the "much celebrated claim" is exaggerated: He did not uncover the wider connection of all presidents in his project. That information was already well-documented by professional genealogists. His story is a classic case of a true event being inflated into a more dramatic myth over time.
The real credit for systematically documenting the interconnected ancestry of US. presidents belongs to generations of genealogists, with the work of Gary Boyd Roberts and the New England Historic Genealogical Society being the most comprehensive. Brett Miller's story remains a charming footnote about how a student's curiosity brought an obscure piece of history to the public's attention.
The source for nearly all of this information is the authoritative work "Ancestors of American Presidents" by genealogist Gary Boyd Roberts of the New England Historic Genealogical Society. The list includes 44 of the 45 men who served before President Obama. The sole exception among pre-Obama presidents is Martin Van Buren.
