Hello everyone, my fellow reading fanatics, I hope you are all doing great. This time, like all of you, I want a new review. I will talk a little about: Heartless Hunter by Kristen Ciccarelli... I finished it a while ago, but seriously, it is one of those books that just keeps on coming back to you... I started reading it because it was buzzing a lot everywhere, you know how the fantasy boom is right now, and well, it got me really curious... the truth is, it was an entertaining read, it hooks you in quickly, although I won’t lie that at times I wanted to jump into the book and yell at the characters! The plot grabs you from the beginning, there is Rune, our main character, who has a crazy double life... during the day, she spends her time pretending to be a high society girl, in an environment that feels very Regency, like Bridgerton but with magic, which honestly, I thought was a super cool setting... but secretly... chan chan! It’s the Crimson Moth, a witch who’s like a vigilante trying to save other witches from being hunted and eliminated, because in that world they are persecuted to the death, then there’s Gideon, who is THE main witch hunter, just imagine the tension!

From the beginning, you already know that this is going to get intense... the dynamic between Rune and Gideon? It’s pure cat and mouse game, the kind that has you on the edge of your seat, they’re constantly sizing each other up, trying to figure out what’s up with the other, using each other to get information... and meanwhile, obviously, an attraction starts to brew underneath that I really liked. Technically it’s an enemies-to-lovers affair, but it feels a little more complex because, for a good part of the book, Gideon has NO IDEA that Rune is the witch he’s hunting, and Rune knows perfectly well who he is, this creates some brutal tension! where you're waiting for everything to explode at any moment... on top of that, the book tells you everything from both points of view, Rune's and Gideon's, and that works wonderfully here. It lets you see Gideon's entire internal struggle: he's attracted to this girl, but his whole life he's been hunting people like her! That gives the character a ton of layers, making him much more than just a "bad" hunter.

Hola a todos, amigos fanáticos de la lectura, espero que estén super bien, en esta ocasión les quiero como a todos ustedes, una nueva reseña, les hablaré un poco de: Heartless Hunter de Kristen Ciccarelli.. lo terminé hace ya un tiempito, pero en serio, es de esos libros que se te quedan DANDO VUELTAS.. empecé a leerlo porque sonaba un montón por todos lados, ya saben cómo está el boom de la fantasía ahora, y pues, me dio muchísima curiosidad.. la verdad, fue una lectura entretenida, te engancha rápido, ¡aunque no les miento que a ratos quería meterme al libro a gritarle a los personajes! La trama te agarra desde el principio, está Rune, nuestra prota, que tiene una doble vida de locos.. de día, se la pasa fingiendo ser una chica de alta sociedad, en un ambiente que se siente muy onda Regencia, como Bridgerton pero con magia, que la verdad, me pareció un setting súper chévere.. pero en secreto... ¡chan chan! Es la Polilla Carmesí, una bruja que es como una justiciera intentando salvar a otras brujas de que las cacen y las eliminen, porque en ese mundo las persiguen a muerte, luego está Gideon, que es EL cazador de brujas principal, ¡imagínense nomás la tensión!

Desde el inicio, ya sabes que esto se va a poner intenso.. la dinámica entre Rune y Gideon? es puro juego del gato y el ratón, de ese que te tiene al borde del asiento, están todo el tiempo midiéndose, tratando de descifrar qué onda con el otro, usándose para conseguir información... y mientras tanto, obvio, se empieza a cocinar una atracción ahí por debajo que me gustó mucho. Técnicamente es un enemies-to-lovers, pero se siente un poquito más complejo porque, por buena parte del libro, Gideon no tiene NI IDEA de que Rune es la bruja que está cazando, y Rune sabe perfectamente quién es él, esto crea una tensión ¡brutal! en la que estás esperando a que todo explote en cualquier momento.. encima, el libro te va contando todo desde el punto de vista de los dos, de Rune y de Gideon, y eso aquí funciona de maravilla. Te deja ver toda la pelea interna de Gideon: le atrae esta chica, ¡pero toda su vida se ha dedicado a cazar gente como ella! Eso le da un montón de capas al personaje, lo hace mucho más que el simple cazador "malo".

Okay, yes, there is a love triangle, everyone... Gideon's brother Alex shows up, he's really good friends with Rune, knows all about her secret story, and basically insists they run away together to a safe place... I'm not really a fan of love triangles, you know? And while this one does add a touch of complexity and drama, mmm, I don't know, I wasn't really into that part, like you could already sense where things were going with Rune, even though she was all confused. That said, Kristen Ciccarelli's writing style is super easy to read, you get into it really fast... you can tell it's a Young Adult, I mean, it gets to the point, it's fast-paced, and you devour the pages! I found myself reading until really late because I needed to know what else was happening, haha, the world-building, I mean, the construction of the world, isn't one of those dense ones, and honestly, I really appreciated that here. They give you just enough information about the witch hunt and the story so you understand what's going on, but without those endless paragraphs of pure explanation that make you sleepy. The focus is crystal clear on the characters and how they relate to each other. Now, if I had to put a but, it would be that I would have loved to see more of Rune in Crimson Moth mode.

They tell you a lot about how great she is and her fame, but scenes of her out there, delivering justice and being a badass, there aren't that many... the concept is great, I just needed to see more of her in action, more of that badass side. And well, although the romantic tension is super well done, at times I felt like they stretched the bubble a little with the "yes, but no," you know what I mean? That's why I was yelling at the book! There were times when I was like, "Just kiss already! Or just make up your mind, dammit!" And for those asking about the racy tone, well... it's pretty chill, it's a young adult fantasy, so don't expect a super-charged erotic romance. There's a scene that's more 'open door,' as they say, but nothing explicit, so if you're more into low spice or 'closed door,' this book will be fine for you. Still, if you're very sensitive about things, you might want to skip a page or two to avoid any steamy stuff.

A ver, sí, sí hay un triángulo amoroso, gente.. aparece el hermano de Gideon, Alex, que es súper amigo de Rune, sabe todo su rollo secreto y, básicamente, le insiste en que se escapen juntos a un lugar seguro.. yo, la verdad, no soy muy fan de los triángulos amorosos, ¿saben? Y aunque este sí le mete como su toque de complejidad y drama, mmm, no sé, no me terminó de matar esa parte, como que uno ya intuía para dónde iban los tiros con Rune, aunque ella anduviera toda confundida. Eso sí, la forma de escribir de Kristen Ciccarelli es súper fácil de leer, te metes de lleno rapidísimo.. se nota que es Young Adult, o sea, va al grano, es ágil, ¡y te devoras las páginas! Yo me quedé entretenido leyendo hasta tardísimo porque necesitaba saber qué más pasaba, jaja, el world-building, o sea, la construcción del mundo, no es de esos densos, y la verdad, yo lo agradecí un montón aquí. Te dan la info justa sobre la cacería de brujas y la historia para que entiendas qué onda, pero sin meterte esos párrafos eternos de pura explicación que te duermen, el foco está clarísimo en los personajes y cómo se relacionan entre ellos, ahora, si tuviera que ponerle un 'pero', sería que me hubiera encantado ver más a Rune en modo Polilla Carmesí.

Como que te cuentan mucho lo genial que es y su fama, pero escenas de ella ahí, repartiendo justicia y siendo una badass, no hay tantas.. el concepto es buenísimo, solo me faltó verla más en acción, más de ese lado cañero. Y bueno, aunque la tensión romántica está súper bien lograda, a ratos sentí que estiraron un poquito el chicle con el 'sí, pero no', ¿me entienden? ¡Por eso le gritaba al libro! Había momentos que yo estaba: "¡Pero bésense de una buena vez! ¡O decídanse, carajo!".. y para los que preguntan por lo subido de tono, pues... es bastante tranqui, es fantasía juvenil, no esperen un romante erótico súper cargado. Hay por ahí una escena que es más 'puerta abierta', como dicen, pero nada explícito, así que si ustedes son más de poco spice o de 'puerta cerrada', este libro les va a ir bien. Igual, si son muy sensibles con eso, quizás se quieran saltar una página o dos por ahí para no encontrar nada de 'calorcito'.

Well, the plot does take a few twists and turns, especially towards the end... I'm not going to spoil anything for you, people! But wow, that ending! Honestly, it left me speechless, what a reaction I had... it leaves you all set and very intense for the next book, so you've been warned! Look, I really liked Heartless Hunter, honestly, it’s a super entertaining fantasy romance that you read really quickly, with a really good central idea, characters with chemistry that captivates you and enough twists to keep you glued to the book… For me, it gets about 4 out of 5 stars, I’m taking one off more than anything because I did want to see more action from the Crimson Moth, and because I felt that the love triangle kind of… I don’t know, it didn’t hook me as much as the whole Rune and Gideon thing… but the tension, the writing style and that ending!, ugh, made it totally worth it and made it stick with you. I highly recommend it, seriously, especially if you’re looking for how to get into young adult fantasy without it being super complicated or dense… and well, that would be all for today, take care, bye!

Y bueno, la trama sí que da unas vueltas, sobre todo ya para el final.. no les voy a spoilear nada, gente! Pero ¡Wow, ese final! La verdad, me dejó con la boca abierta, qué reacción tuve.. te deja todo servido y bien intenso para el próximo libro, así que quedan advertidos! Miren, Heartless Hunter me gustó un montón, la verdad, es un romance de fantasía súper entretenido, que te lees de rapidísimo, con una idea central que está buenísima, personajes con una química que te atrapa y suficientes giros para tenerte ahí pegado al libro.. Para mí, se lleva unas 4 de 5 estrellas, le bajo una estrella más que nada porque sí me quedé con ganas de ver más acción de la Polilla Carmesí, y porque sentí que el triángulo amoroso como que... no sé, no me enganchó tanto como toda la onda entre Rune y Gideon.. pero la tensión, la forma de escribir y ¡ese final!, uff, hicieron que valiera totalmente la pena y que se te quede grabado, se los recomiendo un montón, en serio, sobre todo si andan buscando cómo entrarle a la fantasía juvenil sin que sea algo súper complicado o denso.. y bueno, esto sería todo por hoy, cuidense, byebye!
