Let's make a nutritious and delicious curry with jackfruit in a different way.

Jackfruit has long held a cherished place in traditional Sri Lankan cuisine, often prepared in familiar and time-honored ways. However, today we are about to explore a unique and delightful approach to working with this beloved ingredient. In this recipe, the jackfruit is first steamed, then gently mashed and shaped into flavorful balls. These are then simmered in a rich mixture of coconut milk and powdered spices — a blend of aromatic seasonings and natural thickeners — to create a nutritious, deeply satisfying, and heartwarming curry.

So let’s take a look at how this special dish is made, step by step.

Required Ingredients...

Jackfruit and jackfruit seeds and cut them into small pieces 200g.
2 Cup of Coconut milk.
Some onions, finely chopped.
Finely chopped curry leaves.
About 3 chopped green chilies.
3 cloves garlic finely chopped.
1/2 Teaspoon of fenugreek seed.

Method of making....

First, cut the jackfruit into small pieces. At the same time, cut the jackfruit seeds into small pieces as well.

Then boil the jackfruit well.

Next, take a pan and place it on the stove. Add about two tablespoons of coconut oil. Once the oil is heated, add chopped onions, curry leaves, salt, chili powder, and turmeric powder. Mix well and fry the ingredients.

Next, add the sautéed jackfruit pieces to the mixture and stir well. After about 2 minutes, remove from the stove.

Now take the mixture and shape it into small balls, as shown below.

Next, take another pan and add some coconut oil. Place it on the stove, and once the oil is heated, coat the jackfruit balls in wheat flour and fry them until golden brown.

Finally, take another pan and add a little coconut milk, turmeric powder, coriander powder, fenugreek seeds, chopped onions, green chilies, and curry leaves. Mix well and place it on the stove, allowing it to cook gently as it heats.

Now add the jackfruit balls we prepared earlier into the mixture. Let it cook for about 3–4 minutes, then remove from the heat.
