Can A Security Guard Use Weapons To Kill For Self-protection? ~ MCGI Topic Review

As for me , I can say that this is a very interesting topic since it has a way of changing our perspective concerning security guards, police officers ,and the regular people we think about that are defending themselves and others.

Brother Eli Soriano’s teaching, supported by biblical references like Numbers 35, reminds us that intention matters when it comes to taking a life,even in self-defense.

In Numbers 35:10-13, God gave a command to the Israelites to set up “cities of refuge” for anyone who killed accidentally. The point was to prevent revenge killings until there could be a fair trial to understand the killer’s intentions. If someone killed with malice, they were guilty. But if it was accidental or in defense, they could be spared.

For security personnel,the message is very clear, they have a job which is to protect lives and property.

​ Their main duty is to their country and community in other to help and stop threats. But their own lives are equally important. That’s why they’re trained and armed not to kill for pleasure or revenge, but to neutralize danger.

However, compassion is also highlighted in the teachings.

​ Even when stopping a criminal, if it’s possible to aim for non-lethal areas like the arms or legs, it’s better to do so. Killing should never be the goal,it should only be the last resort when there’s no other way to save lives, including their own.

Let us take for instance,think of a police officer facing an armed robber in a crowded market. The officer must act quickly to stop the threat, but if he can shoot to disable rather than kill, he should. That way, justice can be served later in court, and the suspect has a chance to explain.

Ultimately, the Bible’s wisdom teaches that while self-defense is not a sin, the motives and methods matter deeply. Security work must balance duty, justice, and mercy even when facing danger.
