The house of God in Jerusalem is a sacred place of prayer where God's children go to worship, offer sacrifices and pray to him. But the very house dedicated for prayer became a place of corruption, because men instead of keeping the temple holy, turned it into a market place out of greed and ignorance.
They used religion as a way to enrich their selves. Jesus Christ in anger drove them out and declared: "it is written, my house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have turned it into a den of thieves"(Matthew 21:13).
This teaching apply to our recent time, many religious leaders have turned the house of God into business centers by collecting money through false teachings and commiting all type of evil and abominable acts in the name of religion. This was the same sin that corrupted the temple of Jerusalem.
In these teaching, Bro Eli made us to understand that God's house must remain sacred, free from any abominable act and business purpose. It must be centered on true worship and prayer.
So as christians, let's always keep the house of God sacred because it's a holy place where God dwells.
