Drug addiction is one of the many problems affecting individuals and families in our world today. It normally begins as a minor addiction, then gradually, changes to a severe problem that destroys the body, mindset, and our soul. From what the Scriptures says, our bodies are the temple of God, and we should keep it pure and holy at all time. Addiction, which harms the body and draws a person away from righteousness, is never part of God's plan for us. When a person becomes addicted, it is often a result of wrong choices and misuse of the freedom God gave us the same freedom that was misused in the Garden of Eden, leading to the fall of man.
According to Bro. Eli, one of the best ways to overcome addiction is to seek God through His word. The Bible is not silent about deliverance God is able to set anyone free from every bondage, including drugs. But we must be ready to give our life to Christ for his power to manifest in our. Overcoming addiction is not just about physical strength or discipline, but also about spiritual surrender. the bible tells us in
John 8:36 “If the Son will make you free, ye shall be free indeed”
If we can ask God for forgiveness from our heart and also ask for his grace and help to overcome addiction, definitely he will help us.
As Christians, we must not only avoid the path of addiction but also help others who are struggling. God allows trials and challenges, not to destroy us, but to build us. Even someone who has fallen into addiction can rise again if they turn to God. Suffering from addiction can be a way which can easily bring us closer to God. So instead of us condemning those who are suffering from addiction we should bring them close and show love to them and also advice them to put their hope in God, they is not impossible for God to do. Through faith, obedience, and the support of the church, there is hope for complete recovery.
