We cannot direct our steps in the good path. Our heart is evil. We are mindful of evil always because Satan has polluted our hearts. Even our hearts cannot direct our steps. A sinful heart cannot change to good on its own. On our own we cannot do the things that are good.
The power to overcome evil is only from the Holy Spirit. When a person receives the Holy Spirit into his heart, he will receive the power to subdue every evil tendency in him. The Holy Spirit renews the mind and that person will be able to produce good works not evil. There is no power in any way that has the ability to change a person apart from the power of God.
The Word of God sanctifies us. As we continue daily in reading the Bible and studying the Word of God, we receive sanctification and cleansing that takes away every evil thing from us.
The Holy Spirit and the Word of God renews our minds to do good
We cannot do it on our own except through the help of Holy Spirit.
Our minds are renewed by the word of God
We ask for the grace of God to follow his will.
