Baptism by Immersion and the Beauty of Asa Dam

I went for a #religious rite baptism today at Asa Dam #ilorin, #Kwara State #Nigeria, with some members from my #church. It was a very interesting experience. For us in the #Pentecostal faith, #baptism by immersion is very important. It is a simple rite, but it carries a deep meaning. When a person goes down inside the water, it shows the death of Jesus, and when the person is lifted up, it shows the #resurrection. It is a way of saying we died with Him and we also rose with Him into a new life.

Even though the baptism was our main reason for going, the whole environment added something special to the day. Asa Dam looks different now because the rainy season has ended. During the rainy period the water used to be very high and strong, and there were places nobody could step into. But today the water had gone down, and we walked freely into some areas that were once completely covered.

Asa Dam is always full of #life. The #fishermen there do not use canoe because the water current is strong. So they dive inside the #water with their nets. They are both #divers and fishermen. Some of them sit by the side of the dam with bowls of fresh fish, waiting for people to buy. You will also see others diving in and out of the water, going on with their daily work.

Because the dam is close to a #mountain, different people also come there to pray. So while some are fishing, some are #praying, some are selling fish, and some are just walking around. The place looks active and full of different things happening at the same time.

The baptism itself was wonderful, and the whole #atmosphere around Asa Dam made it even more memorable. The water, the people, the movement, the calmness, the sound of activities everywhere, all of it came together to make the day special in a simple way.
