Hello friends, good vibes to all.
As I did a few weeks ago, today I intend to bring together a couple of topics, in this case frustrations, that I have experienced during the week in the sports field. We don't live by joys alone and that's good because it's something normal and something we have to deal with. The first of such disappointments is the most obvious and media of all and it was the defeat of the Vinotinto in Uruguayan soil, it was something that could happen but that does not take away how annoying it ends up being to receive it. And the second one has to do with a change in the Formula 1 calendar for next year and it is that the historic Emilia-Romagna circuit in Imola will finally leave the list of Grand Prix.
Let's talk about the latter first. The Enzo and Dino Ferrari Autodromo has been hosting Formula 1 races for 62 years being one of the most mythical circuits of the entire calendar. It has changed many names throughout its history (Grand Prix of San Marino) until 2020 when it was renamed Grand Prix of Emilia-Romagna. It is as historical as it is tragic, because in 1994, apart from Rubens Barrichello's accident, Roland Ratzenberger and the incomparable Ayrton Senna lost their lives in the Tamburello curve, a curve that over the years was modified for safety reasons. The thing is that this circuit gradually became obsolete, it needs maintenance and modifications that due to lack of investment cannot be done.
Being in Formula 1 costs money, a lot of money and it is one that this circuit cannot afford. There had been talk of an investment by the government but nothing of that has happened yet, it is hoped that someday it can come back. As a fan of this sport, it saddens me not to see a race here again, it is a very fast track that gave a lot of play for overtaking, besides the immense historical burden it has. If the issue is obsolescence, how to explain the presence of Monaco then, a circuit so uncomfortable and clearly not made for these big cars? - Well, because of the absurd amounts of money that this prize produces. In the end and as I commented with @hosgug, everything is money. And in the end all so that we end up with another street circuit in Madrid that is not needed at all.
Disappointed that a part of the history of this sport will disappear next year. What cannot disappear are the still real options of the Vinotinto to be in the playoffs for the World Cup. What happened on Tuesday was unfortunately not a surprise for many, some imagined a victory in Montevideo, the more cautious ones knew that this was a utopia. And this is not something new, the lack of whatever this national team lacks is something that has haunted us for years, it is like an inability to not achieve the minimum necessary in the most pressing moments and that, my friends, bothers and frustrates us a lot. It is living in a loop, it is a never-ending story.
If Bocha, if Yangel, if Daniel Martinez, if Daniel Martinez, here we have to see the national team as a whole and as such we have to judge it or that would be ideal. The coach cannot put a young player who has not had any experience in the team in such a vital and necessary match, no matter how great and good a player he is. He can't make such abrupt changes in the lineup leaving key players on the bench. Ununderstandable things. Players have to give their all, sweat the last milliliter of liquid they have for the shirt and their weight. Yangel Herrera conceded 26 turnovers, one of them being the second goal. A guy wandering on the field, without running, without giving a pass 2-3 meters away does not deserve the respect of the fans; it is not to insult him but he should be made aware of it although I think he knows it, the thing is that he cares.
To close, the reality is that the result is the least important thing, not really, I mean that if we had lost fighting or with a sense of play I think that the whole feeling and perception around the defeat would have been different. But no, the first half was one of the worst we have seen this national team in these qualifiers and by the second half it was too late to react. Now we have to depend on others because even if we win the two remaining matches we will get into the playoffs, we know that this will not be the case. And no, it is not to be negative, it is to be minimally realistic. As you can see, a week of disappointment after disappointment.
¡Un abrazo a todos, nos leemos en la próxima!
Well my people, that's all for today, I hope you liked it.
¡Hugs to all of you, see you next time!
