Hello everyone

Greetings to all the creative minds and lovers of diy in this great community and hive at large, its so nice to be here today to share with you how i have successfully completed the making of this top and trouser outfit for my neighbor's son using African print fabric.
As you all know, we are in the season of celebration and this time most of our children will want something new regardless the cost of it, all they want is just a new outfit and since the economy of the country did not permit extravagant spending, every thing has to be budgeted for and within your capacity, so my neighbor decided to get this fabric for her children to be used to make simple and beautiful outfit for them.
In my previous post, i explained in detail how i made the trouser with the step by step cutting and sewing process, after cutting the front and back with the measurements i took, i itbwas taken to the sewing machine where it was sewn together with an elastic band on the waistline

After the successful completion of the trouser, i proceeded to the making of the top with the combination of a plain fabric to make the placket and chest pocket

Join me as i take you through the cutting and sewing process of the top
For tge front part, the fabric was folded in two with the chest circumference measurements ÷ 4 plus 2" for ease and seam allowance then the full length measurement plus 3" for the hemming allowance. I placed the front bodice on another folded fabric to cut out the back bodice with 3" at the top and it was slanted by 1.5"

The back bodice was overlapped on the front by 0.5" then i marked out the shoulder, armhole and chest down to the waistline

Both were separated as i cut out facing for each separately

I cut out the front placket using a matching plain fabric and it was sewn to the front after i had sewn the front facing on it with a slash at the center

For the chest pocket, i cut out another piece piece from the plain fabric to make the pocket and it was sewn to the chest line

On the back bodice as well, i cut out facing and sew it on the neckline for neat finishing and it was sewn together with the front bodice on the shoulder

I cut out the sleeve length by 5" with hemming allowance of 3" the hemming allowance was folded in and sewn together

The sleeves were sewing to the armhole circumference on both sides then i marked the round sleeve measurements and sew it down on both sides, the side slit was folded in as well as the hemming allowance

Finally, i used my hand needle and thread to fix pressing button in the appropriate places on the placket and the top and trouser outfit is completed

You've done a great job, I haven't dared to make a collared shirt like this yet, but I have those plans on my wish list.
Beautiful outfit, your neighbor's son will look handsome and elegant in his outfit
