Here's a post for the phonography contest. While walking Betty the dog, she decided to lay in the grass for a spell in the front yard. While we were hanging out enjoying the weather and oncoming pre-sunset, a couple deer and two young fawns crossed the street in our neighborhood and came into the front yard less than 20 yards from us.
Very exciting. I was surprised that Betty stayed still the entire time. She was quite interested and I thought was going to jump up to play or chase.
Just a light crop on this one to highlight the cute fawn.
Second fawn just waiting it's turn to cross the road.
Looking back for it's litter mate. Are you coming?
And, I was lucky enough to catch some video of it crossing as well! I just love having the camera built into phone these days!
?share=copyAnd of course, Here's Betty, enjoying her yard!

Have a great week!
Deer in the city? Also strange they didn't run away with you close
Yup, no hunting in these subdivisions, and they have adapted quite well to the large golf course meadows, eating peoples flowers, plants, and plenty of water with the overflow ponds and such. People talk about how we've intruded in their environment, when the truth is we have intruded, but for some species like this that are "edge" species, they actually thrive more than in a totally natural environment. They often become over-populated as a result rather than under-populated.
You have successfully maximized your cellphone camera very well.
Betty looks so cute, I really like her.
Thanks for that. It is truly amazing the quality of pics with phones these days. Doesn't compete with my big camera and fancy zoom lenses, but great for ad hoc opportunities like this.
You are absolutely right, it is truly amazing.
Have a nice day my brother
Good morning, dear friend @ksteem
What an exciting moment to be so close to these beautiful animals. It's great that Betty kept me still so you could get these beautiful shots.
Beautiful video. Have a wonderful day.
Thanks, I was actually surprised she stayed in place. I expected her to jump up and chase them at any second fearing she would knock the phone from my hand when the leash jerked. But she did good, they looked at her, she looked at them, and all was good.
We appreciate your work and your publication has been hand selected by the geography curation team on behalf of the Amazing Nature AN Community. Keep up the good work!
Thank you friends!
Beautiful wildlife and that too right outside the house. I found the pose in the first photo, where the two deers are facing each other, the most adorable and cinematic and Betty enjoying her yard, It's lovely! :)
Thanks for that. Yes, all the times I've gone out and about looking, then came up empty. Sometimes close to home is just right and you get lucky!
Those animals are beautiful, and yes, the way you clicked these photos is really great. And also, your camera is amazing.
Thanks, I love the little bit of zoom capability the phone has, these were I think at 2x setting to bring them in just a bit closer.
The neighborhood is so paradisiacal that the deer family comes to it without fear 😍
Yes, it certainly feels like paradise to us. We came initially for one last Hurrah that has now pleasantly turned into a longer stay.
Ah, then you'll have to move there permanently. The photos show it's a very beautiful place.
I guess I never would have thought that deer live that far south! That's my own stupidity though! I'd be worried about gators getting them out in the wild!
What a wonderful and beautiful visitors has the neighborhood 😊 Betty is also a pretty lady!
Thanks, it is great to see the visitors hanging about. Betty is one of the special ones for sure.
The neighborhood is like a garden, a beautiful place and deer think is also safe I guess
Wow, that looks really cute. You'll never see anything like this in my city.
What a beauty the crows as a child I always loved when they appeared in cartoons, excellent photos good luck in the contest.
Thanks, and glad you enjoyed them!
A beautiful clear shot
Thank you for visiting!
What a beautiful entry, seeing fawns crossing the street is a great and beautiful surprise. The little dog is very cute, I love it, as well as some animals, they are a tenderness. Greetings.
Hello and thanks for stopping by. Love seeing the fawns, twins are always a good sign of a healthy environment for them!
The deer didn't run away. Seems they are used to staying close to human. Betty looks beautiful
They do seem quite tame around here. Very used to seeing people walking their dogs and such without issue.
That's cool
