The Rains Have Arrived
The first months of the year were marked by heat and high temperatures, a situation that this year has been more accentuated due to the inclemencies of climate change, but gradually the skies have turned gray, the low mountain air with a very particular freshness has been present pouring on these lands all its power. This is the beginning of a rainy season, which seems to be marked by a great intensity, which is the complete opposite of the situation experienced in recent days. Under these circumstances there is no other option but to adapt to these climatic cycles that seem to be crazy, testing the resistance of plants and crops, rivers and streams.

Llegaron las Lluvias
Los primeros meses del año estuvieron marcados por el calor y las altas temperaturas, una situación que este año se ha visto más acentuada debido a las inclemencias del cambio climático, pero poco a poco los cielos se han tornado grises, el aire de montaña baja con una frescura muy particular se ha hecho presente derramando sobre estas tierras todo su poder. Es de esta forma como inicia una temporada de precipitaciones, la cual pareciera estar marcada por una gran intensidad, lo cual es el extremo totalmente opuesto a la situación vivida en los días pasados. Bajo esta circunstancia no queda otra opción que adaptarse a estos ciclos climáticos que parecieran estar locos, poniendo a prueba la resistencia de plantas y cosechas, ríos y caños.
The city of La Fría in the Andean foothills of the state of Táchira, is characterized for being a land loved by the sun, where the thermometers easily reach over 30 degrees, but whose subsoil abounds with water, swampy lands and meandering rivers, natural elements that have left an indelible mark on our surroundings, creating a space where water seems to circulate freely on a land already known. In this sector the dirt roads are a constant and that is why every time it rains swamps and streams are formed, which seek to flow through the unevenness of the floor, always getting a steady course that flows into small ponds, which in just minutes are absorbed by a totally permeable soil.
La ciudad de La Fría en el pie de monte andino del estado Táchira, se caracteriza por ser una tierra amada por el sol, en donde los termómetros marcan con facilidad sobre los 30 grados, pero en cuyo subsuelo abunda el agua, las tierras pantanosas y serpenteantes ríos, elementos naturales que han dejado una huella imborrable en todo nuestro entorno, creando así un espacio en donde el agua pareciera circular con total libertad sobre una tierra ya conocida. En este sector las calles de tierra son una constante y por eso cada vez que llueve se forman pantanos y riachuelos, que buscan fluir a través de los desniveles del piso, siempre consiguiendo un curso constante que desemboca en pequeñas lagunas, las cuales en tan solo minutos son absorbidas por un suelo totalmente permeable.
I was born, raised and formed under the heat of this land, but for some reason I am in love with the rain, I like the sound of the drops when they hit the roof, the brightness of the earth when it is covered by a small layer of water and the smell of the plants when they are bathed by that cold and dispersed water falling from the sky. Rainy days can be a bit complicated, but at the same time they are moments full of benefits, water can be collected for domestic use, where plants are watered naturally and the dense and dusty air is dragged to the ground, leaving us a clean and pleasant environment to breathe.
Yo nací, crecí y me formé bajo el calor de esta tierra, pero por alguna razón soy un enamorado de la lluvia, me gusta el sonido de las gotas cuando golpean el techo, el brillo de la tierra cuando es cubierta por una pequeña capa de agua y el olor de las plantas cuando estas son bañadas por esa agua fría y dispersa que cae del cielo. Los días lluviosos pudieran ser un tanto complicados, Pero al mismo tiempo son momentos llenos de beneficios, se puede recolectar agua para el uso doméstico, en donde las plantas se riegan de forma natural y el aire denso y polvoriento es arrastrado hacia el piso, dejándonos un ambiente limpio y agradable para respirar.
The days where water makes the difference, are moments where the cold can be present, reminding us that we are still part of the Andes, a land truly blessed by the creative powers of nature, because here we have fertile spaces, large mountains, lots of vegetation and a tranquility so genuine that in these modern times could be considered a real luxury.
Los días en donde el agua marca la diferencia, son momentos en donde el frío puede hacerse presente, recordándonos que seguimos siendo parte de los Andes, una tierra realmente bendecida por los poderes creadores de la naturaleza, ya que acá se cuenta con espacios fértiles, amplias montañas, mucha vegetación y una tranquilidad tan genuina que en estos tiempos modernos se pudiera considerar como un verdadero lujo.
