More weird dreams - ravelling through the past - places and people.
Got a different plan for the day - weather is good. Going to walk part of the Kiama Coast Walk which runs from Minnamurra to Gerringong. Was thinking of train - train. Decided to drive to Kiama and then train two stops and walk back
The walk tracks as close to the cliffs as is safe - a few zigzags to check Minnamurra River
Popped into a few reserves before the walk started
View down to the river mouth
View up the river
View from the next reserve - Rangoon Reserve - island has the same name sometimes
View ahead to the walk path - two tracks - one up and over and the other around the edge of the water
The river opening
And back up the river - a paddle boarder got a perfect day. No wind - flat water - not too warm
View back to the island - other name is Stack Island
Signs do warn of steep edges - one such
Native rosemary on the cliff edge
Next higher spot for Stack Island - fishing boat busy
Hard to tell if the sea made these vertical cliffs. I am going to guess the humans did - quarry work
View back up Minnamurra River
And ahead to Kiama Downs and Bombo Headland
Active wave movement on the way around the headland. Imagine this on a big sea day
Had to plan the walk around this inlet - there was a squidgy muddy path next to the houses
Jones Beach art
Grey heron - was a bit nervous of me but more wary of diving in the long grass - so it posed
Some of the walk goes along the road - perfect juxtaposition of a garden kangaroo paw and the cliffs
View back to Cathedral Rocks - somewhat dwarfed by the cliffs
Memorial to a surfer who surfed the Boneyard and Bombo beach - vale Cameron Boyd
The Boneyard - hard to imagine this as a surf spot on a flat day like today
Looking ahead over the Bombo quarry and south to Kiama
The quarry with the steep steps to get down below. I chose not to go down. There was a tour group down there
Banksia up top
An idea of the vertical faces - going to guess 100 metres
Looking back across the quarry. As I walked away - some way away - I heard a scream. 10 minutes an ambulance came by - then another
View ahead to Bombo Beach
Next siren past was police rescue truck on the underpass toget access to the headland. Not good
Reflections on the creek going into Kiama . Make a note to walk Spencer Wetland just up from here
Next action event was helicopter flying over and doing a big loop and going in low over the headland. Going to guess the injuries were too serious to winch up those steps - airlift time. I have not looked up the gory details
Mushroom cascade not far from where my car was parked
Stopped by in bottle shop in Kiama - makes the 3rd person I talked to all day
Dinner: Pork chops BBQ
Watched MasterChef - stayed up late for US markets open - a few options trades
Borrowed an Australis Aurora photo - happening right here in Shoalhaven Heads
