Today I've been tidying out the bus. It's essentially been a storage unit for two years, lacking the charm and beauty it used to have as a 'guest bus'. As we just yesterday signed with an agent, we wanted to make it look as if it was a viable bit of space for guests or teenagers. People are into tiny homes these days - a bus in the garden is no longer a bit of junk.
A lot of it was shuffling the shit in plastic boxes - camping gear, books to the op shop, my mushroom growing kit, brewing supplies and so on. Some got taken to the op shop, and some went on Marketplace.
The place we want to put an offer in is tiny, so it'll be both good storage solutions and a lot more minimalism. I've said here before that minimalism is a constant process. One of our tricks is to 'put it in the bus' and if we don't use it within a year, well, we need to assess whether we'll use it at all.
Booklovers will cry to find out we've got rid of hundreds of books. I don't see the point of keeping them if we never read them. I haven't got rid of some of the collections, like Zola, Murakami and Richard Flanagan, and have kept a lot of our resource books, but I've even been chucking my yoga books. I know all that shit now, why keep it? And it'll make someone else happy - I hope. We've already sold Beekeeping for Dummies and a few other books but they move slowly as no one reads these days. Everything is on the internet. God help us if it all goes down.
Honestly, if I had a job organising people's shit, I'd be happy. Both Jamie and I love the process.
I made $200 off some indigneous art, and another $50 for a vintage mirror. I've earnt more selling this week than I have for my one day of work. Thing is, the more minimalist you get, the less you have to sell. But then money becomes less important.
We are downsizing a lot - the block will be 600 m2, though the house is small - there's a shed on it and tons of room for a garden. Though it seems less in size, and quality, it's more in terms of where we want to be - somewhere we feel less isolated, and closer to the ocean.
Anyway, the bus is looking tidy, I've chucked, sold and op shopped a heap of stuff, and now I have to get off Hive, and Discord (where @holozr keeps luring me - I really must delete that app so I can minimalise my time online whilst I sort my life out) and go get some bales of straw so I can make the garden look pretty.
With Love,

You forgot the zero in my name, but I still found ya post! :D
So, has your offer been accepted on the new place? Its just a matter of the moving parts now?
In any case, getting rid of stuff is always cathartic. I can probably stand to do a clear out at some point soon.
Some small effort shall be expended later in the week, I think, you've inspired me to do so.
Only I don't have a bus to clean out. Its been nearly a year in the new house, and there's some things I still haven't touched, so I guess that means that they can be let go.
Wait til Spring... That's what that season is for.
Putting an offer in this week. Saw your Disco msg pop up but a bit exhausted so keeping convos bare minimum xxxx
Catastrophic I would say.
But I think all book lovers end up with an unmanageable collection, difficult when one moves home.
I was very happy when the new owners asked me to leave all my books behind, 7 boxes full!
Your bus would make a great pop-up on the beach for someone. Imagine a healthy grab & go foodie outlet for beach-goers or early coffee for surfers, plenty space inside for a kitchen!
It doesn't go, sadly!
7 boxes of books .. what a relief they wanted them!!
Haha I so know the process. We are packing up again too. Selling stuff. Trueing out things or donating. Every time we move we move less and less. It becomes a chore to take it all every time.
The bus looks great and will be for sure a nice asset now.
Enjoy te process… 🥰

You'll be down to a backpack soon!!!
Haha for sure… a few more moves needed though to go back that far.
Have a lovely new week!
It's like a continuous battle with our possessions and a deep desire to live with minimal stuff. I love the idea of a guess bus.
It's nice that you've made decent money, but as you say, the less possessions you have, the less money becomes important... It's a cycle, eh?
The bus is cool, light and airy, and I can imagine how cosy it feels to stay on it.
Happy Weekend!
Well, you'd be welcome!!!
A lot of stuff was 'hobby' stuff that I won't do in a smaller property I guess. Plus a lot of books I've finally convinced Jamie I don't need!
Your bus sounds like my shed, I had a go at sorting and chucking stuff out last year but have only just got back into it. I got a few dollars taking stuff down to the scrapyard. Nothing like a big change to get some good motivation.
I am REALLY good at sorting and organizing!! Wish it was my day job...
Looks like this time, it really may happen… But the bus looks great inside!
Decluttering is such satisfying even if it's hard sometimes! I love your commitment to minimalism and the way you're finding new ways to create space. It's wonderful to see how much you've accomplished!
I I didn't fully understand everything. I would like to clarify. Did you find an abandoned bus and decide to remake a house out of it for yourself? Btw looks really exotic😍
No, we bought it years ago to love in whilst we save up for our place. We put it in our garden and it hasn't moved since!
Ahhh and now you are doing the restoration and will live there?🤔😃
No, it'll be sold along with the house.
Ahhh I got it:)
Wow, you are actually doing it! I have read that you are thinking of moving but I never thought that you'll get through with that. Leaving a garden like yours seems impossible!
Good lack with your plans. I hope everything will turn out for the best!
Thanks, it's been a long time coming!!!!
Amazing. 🤩. I was excited seeing how transformative the bus became. I just could only imagine how it appeared as a store before the tidy up. Really cool stuff I must say.
Hola, me gustan sus fotos.
