The fascination of human beings for the mountains has existed since the beginning of time, we can verify it through hundreds of historical traces, whether they are structures, documents, art, etc., and in our days it is maintained although perhaps the motives have changed a little.

La fascinación del ser humano por las montañas ha existido desde el principio de los tiempos, podemos comprobarlo a través de cientos de vestigios históricos, ya sean estructuras, documentos, arte, etc., y en nuestros días se mantiene aunque quizás los motivos hayan cambiado un poco.

In ancient times, many peoples from different parts of the world considered the highest points of the mountains as sacred places.

En la antigüedad, muchos pueblos de distintas partes del mundo consideraban los puntos más altos de las montañas como lugares sagrados.

They were places of meditation, rituals, defense zones or other activities, and some of them still preserve structures such as temples, fortifications, among others, which today are visited by tourists.

Eran lugares de meditación, rituales, zonas de defensa u otras actividades, y en algunos de ellos aún se conservan estructuras como templos, fortificaciones, entre otras, que hoy son visitadas por los turistas.

But, although perhaps nowadays most people no longer see the mountains as sacred places, for many they have become true temples where they go to challenge themselves and observe the world from the heights.

Pero, aunque quizá hoy en día la mayoría de la gente ya no vea las montañas como lugares sagrados, para muchos se han convertido en verdaderos templos a los que acudir para desafiarse a sí mismos y observar el mundo desde las alturas.

I have been climbing mountains for several years now, and when I ask myself why I like it so much, one of the answers is that it strengthens my mind. I believe that to live in this sometimes complicated world, having a strong mind is vital.

Tengo ya varios años subiendo montañas, y cuando me pregunto por qué me gusta tanto, una de las respuestas es que fortalece mi mente. Creo que para vivir en este mundo, a veces tan complicado, tener una mente fuerte es vital.

For me, climbing a mountain is a parallel to what you set out to do in life, because of its distance and height it may seem impossible to reach the top, but once you are on the way, if you really want it, you will achieve it.

Para mí, subir una montaña es un paralelismo con lo que te propones en la vida, por su distancia y altura puede parecer imposible llegar a su cima, pero una vez que estás en el camino, si de verdad lo deseas, lo lograrás.

Of course having a good physical condition helps, but the main thing is your thoughts, that you believe in yourself, your body can take you to the top of the mountain as long as your mind allows it.

Por supuesto que tener una buena condición física ayuda, pero lo principal son tus pensamientos, que creas en ti mismo, tu cuerpo puede llevarte a la cima de la montaña siempre que tu mente se lo permita.

For me that's the thing about the mountain, it goes beyond physical training, if you accept its mental challenge, you will advance more and more confidently, and when you reach the top and see the beautiful landscape, you will know that your effort has been worth it, isn't that the way it is in life?

Para mí eso es lo que tiene la montaña, va más allá del entrenamiento físico, si aceptas su reto mental, avanzarás cada vez con más confianza, y al llegar a la cima y ver el hermoso paisaje, sabrás que tu esfuerzo ha valido, ¿no es así en la vida?
