fun friday water drop refraction shots
Thanks again for all the positive energy andf prayers for our daughter in Law, she is doign so much better, sher was a bit frustrated yesteray, in the morning one Dr told her should would be discharged to go home, but then later in the morning they said her blood levels came back low so she needed some blood and they would check again the next day ie this morning and see whhow the levels were, so lets hope today is a better day for her and she can get home, I think all of use understand her frustration and wish to go home, but are glad the FDrs are being cautious before making that decision, making she she is up to going home, as I said to her yesterdayfrom experience, its even more frustrating, being released home and a few days later having things get worse again and having to go back in
Good Morning, have a great day and weekend ahead,
IN New Zealand we used to call it Boxing day, well I say used to but I guess they still do,
If you havent heard about Boxing Day let me explain
The Origins Of Boxing Day - Jane Austen articles and blogBoxing Day, celebrated on December 26th in Commonwealth nations, stems from British traditions where servants, working on Christmas Day, received a "Christmas box" with gifts, leftovers, and money from their employers the next day, allowing them to visit family, while also linking to church "alms boxes" for the poor.
Also down under in NZ and Australia, its summer at this time of year so now white Christmases in fact I seem to remember the day after Christmas I used to love to go to the beach and river and swim and have a chill day in the water.
Of course here where i live now, its for sure not swimming weather, unless you happen to have a hot tub ;)
OK now ono to todays photos, I tried some water drop refraction shots
And I completely forgot again to take a photo of the setup so let me try and explain how I did these
Its actually pretty easy to setup
I grabbed for tins of food all the same height as it happened, they were cans of soup, and a sheet of glass which I grabbed out of one of the framed photos I had in a box in the basement, as I didn't have space on our walls to put them all up
and I put the glass on top of the cans, then set up the tripod over these with the camera mounted underneath it, looking down at the glass
I then put some drops of water on the glass, and used a tablet underneath to pull up some images that I used
Then it's just a matter of getting the lighting OK, and adjusting the focus to get the patterns in the water drops.
That said the first drops I did went very flat, so I tried some Rain-X I had that I use on the car window, and that worked a charm for bigger, rounder drops which worked better
Also I forgot to download some new photos onto my tablet to try for backdrops for these, if or when I try this again I will remember to do that, but my next challenge for myself is to try and capture some water drop splash shots, but i will explain those if or when I get to them, I understand from what I have read they are very challenging to do, so lets see if I have any luck.

I did try using one of the minifigs from my brick building sets as the subject but that was a complete flop LOL

Those shots turned out amazing! I'm glad you hear your daughter in law is doing better. I never believe the first doctor that says you are going to get discharged at a certain time. It almost seems to get pushed no matter what.
Yeah that has been my experience as well, I take it I am really being discharged when they tell me I can get dressed :)
good news is she got home yesterday afternoon
That is great news!
Hello dear friend @tattoodjay, how are you?
