On my most recent visit to Cumaná, in eastern Venezuela, there was one thing that pleasantly surprised me: the murals. I was so impressed that I decided to dedicate an entire post to this aspect that adorns the city.
I was amazed by the spectacular murals, dedicated to iconic figures or aspects of regional culture and history. That's why we find murals of heroes such as Antonio José de Sucre and Leonor De La Guerra, alongside important artists such as María Rodríguez, Gualberto Ibarreto, and the great poet and composer Luis Mariano Rivera, along with the “Poet of Martyrdom” Cruz Salmerón Acosta.
En mi más reciente visita a Cumaná, en el oriente venezolano, hubo un elemento que me sorprendió de manera muy grata: el muralismo. Quedé tan impactado que decidí que debía dedicarle un post completo a este aspecto que adorna la ciudad.
Estaba maravillado con los espectaculares murales, dedicados a personajes o aspectos icónicos de la cultura y la historia regional. Por esa razón encontramos allí murales de héroes como Antonio José de Sucre o Leonor De La Guerra, junto a artistas trascendentes como María Rodríguez, Gualberto Ibarreto o el gran poeta y compositor Luis Mariano Rivera, junto al "Poeta del Martirio" Cruz Salmerón Acosta.

My amazement at such spectacular works led me to investigate once I returned to Caracas. The answer has a name: the “Ciudad Mural” International Mural Festival (Mural City).
It turns out that Cumaná was the venue for this event in September, which brings together local, national, and international artists. It is a wonderful activity that seeks to “transform Cumaná into a large urban canvas to preserve and tell its history, customs, and cultural heritage through art.”
This festival has been held in different cities across the country.
Looking at the reviews on the internet, I realize that I didn't see all the murals and it's possible that some of the ones presented here were not part of the festival.
As some of the works are signed, I was able to find several of the authors on Instagram, so alongside the images I was able to identify is the author of the work.
El asombro ante trabajos tan espectaculares me llevó a investigar, una vez que regresé a Caracas. La respuesta tiene un nombre: Festival Internacional de Muralismo "Ciudad Mural".
Resulta ser que Cumaná fue la sede, en el mes de septiembre, de este evento que reúne a artistas locales, nacionales e internacionales. Una actividad maravillosa que busca "Transformar Cumaná en un gran lienzo urbano para preservar y contar su historia, costumbres y herencia cultural a través del arte".
Este festival se ha realizado en distintas ciudades del país.
Viendo las reseñas en internet, me doy cuenta que no vi todos los murales y es posible que algunos de los que aquí presentó, no formaran parte del festival
Como algunos de los trabajos tienen firma, pude encontrar a varios de los autores en Instagram, así que junto a las imágenes que pude identificar, está el autor de la obra.

Qué hermosos murales, tan coloridos, llamativos y llenos de nuestra cultura venezolana. Definitivamente esta ciudad de Cumaná ha sido honrada con este arte, a disposición de todos los visitantes y lugareños, que se deleitan con este espectáculo visual.
