Facing the Shadows: What Am I Really Afraid Of?

Blog Banners - charmingcherry.jpg

We have our realities in life. Each of us faces different situations in different ways. Sometimes, we feel afraid that something will happen. We are not yet ready for them. We have our nightmares and circumstances that we are scared to experience. We formed them inside our heads through the environment, experiences, and imaginations.

I, myself, will admit that it is not easy to feel afraid of something. Most people will try to get deeper into you so they can know the emotions you do not want to feel and things you are afraid to experience. In this article, let me tell you a story about the situations that I am really afraid to face. The things that will shake me up to my core. If you are interested, you can continue scrolling down, and you can reflect on whether we have similarities and differences when it comes to the things that I am afraid of.

In some cases, we only let the closest people in our circle be aware of our weaknesses. You cannot trust everyone because they might take advantage of you. For me, it is hard to admit the things you are afraid to experience, yet I have been an open book to some of my friends, family, and loved ones. I told them everything, and I know that at some point, I gave them a weapon that they could use to strike me down. But from my perspective, I want them to know that I trust them, and betrayal was always a choice. Here I am, sharing with you, maybe not personally, but at least you will have a chance to have a glimpse of the things I am afraid of.

First, I am afraid to lose my parents. I think this is a normal thing for some daughters and sons. To me, this would be the most painful experience I could ever feel once it happened. I cannot imagine life without my Mama and Papa. I know that most of us are afraid to experience this, and to those who have already done so, I hope you are healed already.

The reason why I am afraid to lose them is that I think life would not be meaningful without my parents. I know, too, that we cannot stop, delay, or pause death. It will happen, but I pray that my Mama and Papa get to live a little longer.

Second, I am afraid to die without fulfilling my purpose in life. Aside from losing my parents, I am also scared to die without having my purpose served. I think that we all have our purpose in this world, and it would be my pleasure to fulfill that before leaving the world of the living. I may not be leaving a legacy or a name that would be known in the whole world. I do not want to die with my purpose being left behind.

I am not afraid to die, but I am so scared to die without a purpose. This is my mindset from the day when I removed my blindfold and saw the realities of life. There should be one or two things that would be your greatest purpose in this world, and make your time worthwhile to serve that. Then, you will not be afraid to die without leaving your purpose fulfilled.
