On December 3, 2025, our dog Maxine gave birth to four puppies. We still don’t know what to name them since we know they aren’t ours. However, it's already under discussion about the name of the male puppy. By the way, let’s set the record straight.

We first adopted Maxine from my aunt last June 22, 2025. My younger sibling named her Maxine and my mom approved. My family accepted that name as a tribute to our first dog named Max. I remember he went missing four years ago after following my sibling and parents but never returned. She’s our fourth dog and also our first female dog ever. I was against the adoption since we still had Primo at that time. However, my mom insisted because she wanted another dog although we can't even treat Primo he deserved. It’s ironic that she became angry after spending thousands of pesos for anti-rabies shots when Maxine accidentally bit her.
Moving on to the pregnancy, we somehow expected it. Still, there was a part of me that stayed in denial for no reason. When I was still rending my OJT hours, my mom kept telling me about a stray dog she saw breeding with Maxine. It didn’t happen only once but several times to different guys. That's how gorgeous Maxine is! After we noticed her unusual eating habits, we concluded she was already pregnant. Her weight increased a lot and her breasts started to develop like we saw from other puppies.
On December 2, 2025, my younger brother noticed that she wasn’t feeling well after two to three months of waiting. The next day, they unleashed her and made sure Maxine would find a comfortable position for labor. When we finally let her roam, she only went outside when she needed to pee. After lunch, my younger sister was shocked when she saw her amniotic fluid release. I even joked about needing a midwife to deliver the puppies safely.

After a few minutes, she gave birth to a black puppy. My mom said the first dog that mated with her was black, so it wasn’t surprising. We thought she would only have one, but she delivered four in total. Three of them are girls and only one is male. Three look like cows, while the black one looked like a goat. I asked who would receive the puppies, but my mom said she wanted to keep the male. She also mentioned that giving the rest for adoption wouldn’t be a big problem.

Sadly, two days after she gave birth, the black one died. I saw red ants on her mouth when I woke up. We already anticipated it since she was the weakest and most unhealthy puppy. We also noticed that Maxine often pinned her down by accident. While the other puppies could stand, the black one couldn’t keep up. Her mother also bit her often as a way of carrying her. After my younger sibling woke up, we decided to bury her. Maxine tried to push her with her paw to see her again, but she had to accept it.
Despite the incident, Maxine moved on quickly. She’s now busy nursing her three puppies, and it’s cute to see them together. Maxine loves being caressed, and she doesn’t get angry when we lift her puppies. Of course, we need to take care of them since she definitely carried them with care.
Congrats to you and your baby. 😎👍
