Previously I introduced you to Catalina, a cat that we rescued a few months ago and since then she became part of our family and therefore, of our lives. With time we have been getting used to her presence and frankly I must say that her arrival at home has shocked us, we all have our own way of dealing with her and she has particularities in her behavior with each one of us.
One aspect that I love about the daily routine with her, is that in the mornings as soon as she sees me, she stretches and lies on the floor for me to caress her belly and her whole body, whenever I do it she purrs and seems to show satisfaction, that makes me understand that she feels some affection towards me, however, there are times that while I caress her she tries to bite me, she has already done it several times and quite hard.

She also likes to play with me, any object in the house serves to get her attention, but I usually use a wire which I swing around and she tries to catch it by all means, I find it very funny her insistence and how she looks when she catches it and tries to hug and bite it. In those moments I get the impression that I strengthen my bonds with her, but then I get a lot of doubts when I try to pet her and she avoids me or bites me.

So everything becomes confusing in the day to day in my relationship with the cat, sometimes I think she loves me, but sometimes I think the opposite, and well, maybe that's the average behavior of most cats, but I never had one before, so this experience is new for me. It is quite complicated for me to understand the cat's feelings, but maybe that will improve as the days go by.

Your Catalina looks very much like my Catalina, except for her coat, but they have very similar ways of behaving. And I know that mine adores me.
First I will tell you that a cat when he puts his belly up and allows you to pet him means full trust, if there is no trust he would never let you pet his belly. This will partly answer the nibbling issue.
My cat does it too, especially when I pet her, and although a nibble can mean discomfort, depending on when she does it, it is also a demonstration of affection. If she bites softly or lightly, it is affection. If she were upset, she would not only bite but also protect you.
Look her in the eyes and slowly close your eyes and open them again, if she responds with the same, they are connected. Cats are special and magical. Hug!

Ok, you made me open my eyes as far as cat behavior goes, I definitely have a lot to learn and I think eventually I will, but first I will get a lot of nibbles and scratches haha.
Thanks for your words, these are light in the darkness.
I have had cats for more than 20 years but since I was born there were cats at home and I adore them, I learnt a lot from them, especially their behaviour, because as they don't speak I need to know what they want to tell me. Thanks to you, Catalina is beautiful!
Hello Mr. @musicandreview, good morning.
Catalina is so beautiful! She seems so happy to be living in your home.
That's what cats are like, both love and hate.
Have a beautiful day. Enjoy it.
Yeah, a lot of love and hate together, it really can get confusing haha. Cheers!
how sweet. you know..if a cat bites you but doesn't break your skin and doesn't scratch also..it is potentially a "love bite" or just a message to say she doesn't want any more...That, you have to figure out. But likely, if she is biting you, even hard, but not running away...It's kitty love. Some cats are viciously affectionate. hahaha One of the best things that you can learn and implement to build trust with her is the simple, "long slow blink." Look her in the eyes and close your eyes tight, smile and hold for a few seconds...she will do it back...if not right away, eventually...It pretty much means, "it's all good. I mean you no harm." Keep it up. Big hugs and kisses
