In the Orthodox calendar tomorrow is St.Andrew s Day. A day of celebration with a ritul to protect luck, and connect with the ancestors .But do you know what that means....
Ropes braided with garlic are hung on the doors and windows or garlic is thrown discreetly into the house at corners of the rooms.
Wheat grains are planted to see if you are lucky and have an abundant new year.For Romanians this gesture has a deep symbolic role.It is the desire to protect your home, family and property, With us , traditions and faithcome together.Also in the evening the dishes are turned upside down to block the way of evils spiritsto enter the house until sunrise.
From here the legrnd DRACULA has his imortal sprit be our Carpthians.
The legend says that the sprits of the dead haunt their birthplaces and to return only to do harm . That s why we put garlic on St,Andrew s Eve to protect ourselves from them. On this night , the world of the living and the world of the departed forever intersect, the moonless night is loaded with ancient charms and magical rituals .Don t be scared..
They are just legends and stories but which we love and pass on to those who like them..
