The grass is brown everywhere man. I think the thing is that people value what they don't have. For instance, other countries don't have the tax and legal "burdens" of the UK. Some have better weather, which is another big one. The cost of living is also lower in may countries (from a British point of view). In those countries people are fleeing to, their citizens are lining up at the British Embassy to emigrate to the UK. For them, there's "money" in the UK and better security, education, healthcare, etc.
