Greetings poets!

It's time for another poetry prompt. For this week's prompt I challenge you to teach us something.

This week's prompt:

Write a poem about history. It can be about a person or group of people or a historical event, or a time period. It should be general notable history. When you post your piece tell us a little bit about the subject of your poem and the underlying history.

Make sure you comment on at least two other poems when you post yours.

Here's a couple of examples poems related to history:

Example 1:
The Lioness of Brittany

Beware blackened hulls
And reds sails of My Revenge
My Love's recompense

Jeane de Clisson was a French/Breton noblewoman who became a privateer to avenge her husband after he was executed for treason by King Philip VI of France. She sold all of her land and bought a fleet of ships which she used to capture French ships. They would kill almost everybody on board leaving one survivor so they would tell the king who did it. Her ships had a characteristic of red sails and black hulls.

I'm not going to run these prompts like a contest and can't promise any monetary prize. I can however offer to spotlight any poems written in response to the last prompt. If you tag this account (@hive-161465) and my main account (@moeknows), I will do my best to pin your poem here in the #blockchainpoets community.

Happy writing, everyone.
